Sorry it didn't drop the quote I was referring to.. you mentioned that you were worried about losing the civic in an accident, and I was saying you can get agreed upon value (probably even classic insurance like Hagerty) for what's it actually worth. I know rebuilding of finding another one would be painful.

 

aaaah ok. I've talked to progressive and we are in the progress of it. Problem is when I tell them the paint/bodywork is about 10-15k they jack the price WAY up.

Progressive will be too much, since you have a daily driver already insured, this 2nd car can classify as a pleasure or show car and depending on age - Classic which then gets you out of emissions (if you can get the plate). I have an agreed upon value car insured with Hagerty https://www.hagerty.com for $28k and it costs me $446 a year full coverage. I just can't drive it to work. This is they type of insurance company you should be looking for. i had to have detailed photos etc. Otherwise my AMFAM insurance guy knocked up my truck insurance $400 a year to cover the $14k in mods over stock. I am afraid to call him and add my camper to my policy .ugggh.

 

i'm going to give them a call. Since I got everything under progressive I figured they'd give me a good deal but doesn't seem to be that way. I checked the miles, I put a bit over 250 miles in 2 years on it......

if they won't insure it because of how new it is, ask them for another recommendation of a show car insurer. They might be able to give you a recommendation. My insurance is so cheap because it's registered as a 1965 classic car. FYI..

 

I just checked with them and the newest Honda they insure is Honda 600.



Would totally trade my Civic for this car.

 

Damn sorry, there is another value based insurer that the Porsche clubs uses.. I can get that insurers information for you... because they do classic and current with 3k, 6k, and unlimited driving plans.

 

@cytocycle That would be great if you can share that info. Progressive doesn't do much for custom cars.
