    Thread revival!

Did you ever get this off the ground? I was also toying around with this idea and did some research. It is totally feasible. This is the minimum parts/steps to complete the swap. May vary depending on your model Taco. Luckily I have both a '03 Taco and '01 4Runner, so I can do quick comparisons:

    1. Multimode Transfer Case from 4Runner, needs to match transmission.
    2. Front Driveshaft T4R, since the cases are different sizes and therefore I assume the front output is further away from the front diff input.
    3. Custom rear driveshaft for Taco, see 2 for reasons. If you have the two-piece rear driveshaft, the length of the shaft from the T-case rear output to the carrier bearing needs to be altered.
    4. T4R 4WD computer
    5. T4R Center Diff Lock switch or custom switch.
    6. Center Diff Lock indicator light or take the T4R indicator from the cluster for cool points.
    7. Custom adapter harness or re-wire. The modules are different, but share many of the same inputs. Adapter harness if you want to make it reversible or repin to match T4R expected inputs.
Lots of details in between the steps listed. However, I think it would be pretty awesome for snowy paved roads to have a selectable AWD.
