When I run to Home Depot, Walmart and stop by grocery store with hand full of bags, do I want to take out the key to unlock and lock the tailgate 6 times? Hell NO.
I installed the OEM power lock and this anti-theft device.

I do not live in high-theft area, but I travel to places that can be. Thieves do not honor what the license plate says.

Besides, thieves don't steal from poor areas, they take from the well off areas.

Living in Canada, you don't find it annoying to remove your gloves/mitten, dig out the key fob in your pocket and then remove the metal key to unlock the tailgate all the time? Even if I am not in a hurry, I don't want to waste time like this.
...and the one time you forgot to lock it, it will be the time they steal it.

I have the fob and the large key (not the one inside the fob if that makes sense) on a separate key ring attached separately with 2 rings. It's easy to grab and the large key is easy to use in the tailgate. Works for me and living in Canada all my life I know where to keep the key handy even with having to take off 1 glove. Being a cold weather guy I hardly ever wear gloves. And I have the Sabelco lock and the cable washer thing.

I have tuck away metal key in the FOB, very annoying to take it in/out in winter, if I drop it in snow, I'm screwed.
Sabelco is nice option, but I am cheap so this device works great, but not that cheap to put a butt ugly hose clamp in my tailgate.

Not sure if you're referring to my post. If so you may have misread or don't understand. I use the large key not the small one on a split ring connected to the fob. Easier and smarter than the tiny key inside the fob. I do not use a hose clamp I was referring to the large washer usage where the tailgate cable attaches to the truck. I don't consider the Sabelco expensive on a $50k truck. Just sayen not trying for a pi..in match.

The device that Chris makes is very high quality - it was very well engineered and made - the problem I am having I can't get a T40 socket in that tight of a space.
What did others do to get in there to get that screw out. I see where some mention a 1/2 breaker bar but how on earth did they get the T40 bit onto the screw?

Unhinge your tailgate just a bit, just on the one side, leave the cables hooked up and put a towel under it so no scratches, you'll have plenty of room and better leverage.

one more question - sorry for being so thick - If I tighten down the T45 with the device in place will I still be able to get the tailgate back on ?
