I’m sorry this thread is huge. Is there an install video on these? I thought I seen it but I can’t find it and I’m at work lol

My thought on it is. They’re stealing Them to sell back to us. Because if we get our tailgates stolen, we’re more likely not gonna buy a new one. We’re gonna try to find one as cheap as possible. Used in good condition and that’s what they’re banking on.

W 40 is not going to work. Bolts are put on with red Loctite. You have to heat it or you’re not getting it off soldering iron seems to be the best tool along with the impact screwdriver that’s mentioned here. I don’t have a soldering iron, but my plan is to heat up the screwdriver with a torch into its red hot and hold that against the bolt on the inside before I attempt to break it loose

    I
It's not the locktight, it the reverse teeth on the backside of the head on the screw, they really dig in sometimes, a punch works best to shock the threads

    Many have reported this works:

    > Remove tailgate, put on the ground
    > Get a T-40 (?) that needs no adapter for the long-handled wrench or breaker bar
    > Play Hercules

Also very excess able to these tailgate bandits! Those two screws are in the open, easy to get to compared to Christians engineered design which would give these idiots a bitch of a time! Especially if you throw some red lock tight on it!

Just finished reading this thread! Took a while, but I learned so much. I feel very prepared for the task at hand when mine arrives! Thanks everyone for all the info and pics. And thank you Christian for designing such an awesome solution to help out your fellow toco lovers! And making it very affordable.

This looks like an awesome idea, but has anyone added washers to the cables where the cable ends are attached to the bed? Might be another way to slow them down.

Still, are easily taken off with a small powered screwdriver. Probably basically useless in the long run, but I am too lazy to take them off ...

Maybe replace the screw with a security screw, that will help even more.

I probably will not even replace it if I remove for a reason. My SaBellCo supposedly is subject to breaking under sufficient impact, but there is no defense against a truly determined thief.

so I got my antitheft bracket and just installed it. I did purchase the impact screwdriver from Harbor freight. But it didn’t really work that well to turn the bolt, but it probably helped that I banged the crap out of it. So I heated it up with a torch and used my impact to break it loose. I just took the tailgate off and laid it in the bed on some blankets without removing the electrical harness just unclipping the clip. I did have to use a prybar to bend The corner of my tailgate to get the bracket to go in. Looks like someone might have dropped the tailgate and bent it a little, but after that, it went right in. I just have to wait for my Amazon order for the Security T-45 bit To put the security screw in. I don’t ever plan on removing my tailgate so I’m gonna use red Lock tight on it! Thanks, Christian!
