Granfors for the win!!! As far as hand saws I can't believe no one here carries the "Cadillac" of them, Silky. The Gumboy 240 medium tooth is the tits.

I had trouble deciding which length and tooth size to go with, so I just shot in the middle with the 240 medium. According to several on YouTube it's the best cutter. All I know it is amazing!!!!

Just out of curiosity, are there specific rules that you can't carry a chainsaw in state forest lands (fire hazard????). Seems to me a small chainsaw would be more user friendly than an axe or saw in a lot of cases when venturing out on these roads / trails.

Depends on the state - and the time of year. Here in New Mexico we have a bunch of national forest, less state forest lands. In summer when it's dry the forest will often go "Stage 2" and chainsaws will be forbidden.

I gave up trying find a bag that would fit in the cab, and since the tonneau leaks I ended up going with this:
    https://www.amazon.com/Plano-1612-W...0_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=JQ90WN3VAYP4ZJW9TGWP
    Will probably add a second.

Story of my life camper doesn't have a window to the cab therefore in any rain it starts to leak so I actually picked up two 40gal totes and threw all the recovery gear and miscellaneous stuff in there, I keep the handbag behind my seat

I have a forestry business and a client let me run this saw for a week on her property. I was shocked. For the thinning work I was doing the battery lasted about as long as a tank of gas would on my Husky 550 XP (I keep this saw in my truck most of the time). The Greenworks is not a replacement for a gas saw when doing real work, but it's an ideal truck saw - especially if you have an inverter to keep the battery topped off. I'll be getting the larger saw before long.

damn that looks like a pretty neat saw! I never would have thought a battery powered saw would cut worth a lick.

I fell a couple 8"+ trees just to see how it would work. It doesn't have the power of my (much larger - apples/ oranges) general purpose saw and the bar is too short for my uses, but again it's an ideal truck saw. I was getting about 45 minutes worth of thinning .5" - 4" diameter (and occasionally larger) trees on each battery charge. It has plenty of power to cut sections out of much bigger trees/ logs if you don't try to force it through the wood.

Oh, and it's super effing light and quiet when compared to gas saws.

I have the X11, 17, and 27. I love them all they do everything I need for splitting, for chopping I go with a gransfors forest axe this will chop down any tree with the correct force and time.

It all depends on what you need to do, personal I carry both types, splitting for firewood and chopping for trail clearing.

Worst case you buy a splitting axe and a chainsaw.

    Problem solved.

The same shit everyone else has.
I have a generic cheapy short handle shovel I use for camping. It works well for what I need.

I carry a Fiskars 28" chopping ax and an X7 hatchet. The last time I used the ax, it went through a 12" diameter tree without any effort.
