being a desert/sand dune guy CV's go bad on a regular basis due to extreme angles and HP... the myth of lifetime warranty is a exactly that a myth, same as the 10k oil change and lifetime fluids. CV's need to be taken apart, cleaned, inspected and worn parts replaced on a regular basis... 60k miles would be OK. I looked on the internet to confirm and refresh my memory about the outer CV's on Tacoma IFS 4X4's. While they do the job, they are pretty weak compared to a Lobro 930 CV. The inner race that is driven onto the splined axle shaft is VERY thin on the inner portion. If you are at extreme angles, like turning with the suspension compressed or in full droop all of the force is on the thinnest portion of the CV. Add to this the possibility of the boot allowing dirt and junk into the joint and it will eat itself apart pretty quick... These things NEVER break in the driveway, always in the bush and now you have to figure a way to support this thing until you get to a paved road for a wrecker.

No she doesn't know, and even the most seasoned stealership parts guys that have been around 10+years still tell me stuff like this. They make a reman axle and I wouldn't recommend that as they make reman brake calipers also, and they will be half a#* rebuilds trust me, and then the quiet parts guy says he can get a brand new one! (usually 4 times more money) but new is always possible. They'll order them from another dealer that's had em on a shelf for 15+years, and sell to you full price..new is always better, I do it right, and only once.
