I drive a 2008 base Tacoma, 5 lug, 4 cyl, 5 spd, 155k miles. My suspension is 100% stock and original. I'm wondering if there is a need to install a helper spring like the 6 lug SOA guys (see links below). I've read that it improves launch from a green light or whatever and cornering when taking turns. I've scoured TW, TN, and Google for more info if the Axle Wrap mod is applicable to our 5 lug SUA trucks, but could only find for the 6 lug. Would it be worth it to install or just a waste of time/install since we are SUA? I apologize of this has been covered already. Thanks in advance.

SUA is ideal for anit- axle wrap, it's rarely a concern unless the springs are badly worn.

I have an Xterra and its SUA, even with the old springs before I replaced them, it had 1" to bump stop and still didn't wrap on full acceleration.

An x-runner with LSD might benefit from it, but not much gain from a 4 banger.

I think a rear sway bar would accomplish more.

Apparently I've recommended these to 5 lugs before haha.

The spring help will firm up the rear, more ideal with load.

A rear sway bar will reduce body roll and help more directly with handling.

Thanks for the quick response, Bishop. I'll look into the rear sway bar.
