Just a few photos from the the Sedona trip a few weeks back. This was the second year San G was cancelled and we ended up heading to Sedona. Half the people who went I’ve never camped with before but was overall a good time.Ended up heading out Thursday and met up with the remaining Friday evening.

Was able to replace a bad ball joint in time to get out for the weekend. Worked Thursday morning and got called in to work a night shift. So free’d up my Friday and headed out to Joshua tree for the weekend. Weather was great and well relaxed.

Received some new headlights today. Now just waiting for a conversion harness from @daveeasa and the rain to stop to install headlights and address a few cosmetic issues on the truck

This evening I was able to get the new headlights on, very impressed with the output. The plug n play conversion harness from @daveeasa just made everything that much easier. While I was at it through some more rattle can paint on the grill to touch it up and got everything back lined up.

    Haha. Just a little overkill?

Just ordered a S8 with spot lens for myself. Hoping it helps balance out my current lighting setup.

Just started looking for a better light bar than i currently have (just some cheap ebay lightbar). Is it worth the 1k+ for them? It's a chunk of change, but I like to be able to see anything on the road at night that might run out in front of me, obviously I don't blind oncoming traffic lol.

It honestly depends on what you will be using the truck for. I have had mine for a few years now and have maybe used it two to three times. You can go a cheaper route and be just as satisfied. I had got mine for a really good deal, don’t think I would have spent $1k+ on one. I’m considering swapping bumpers and if I do so I’ll need a new one due to the bumper I’m looking at needing a 30”. So if that’s the case I definitely won’t be spending that much on one.

To add to Aaron's response, application is everything. The Onx6 series is Baja Design's premier lineup of light bar and mostly used by racers driving at race speed for hours on end at night. IMO, if you're driving at 20-30 mph a few times a year, spending 1k+ for a light is overkill. Especially when most of the time lighting isn't a one stop fix. You need to cover multiple zones to have a good blend of lighting, so a good setup can get costly.

There are multiple tiers of brands/pricing that you can find when it comes to lights just like anything else. Figure out what your realistically trying to do and what your budget is. If you can afford to spend 1k+ for one light, in addition to all of the others, then more power to you but it's not necessary to go enjoy some night runs.

I have personally found that a decent set of ditch lights will cover most of your night driving needs. I started with a pair of Cali Raised ditch lights in a "driving combo" and was happy for a long time. Especially for the price.

Agreeing with you. You don’t have to go with a expensive brand, more of whats your budget, but Patterns are everything. Also @hembreeee you can go on Baja Designs site and they have a breakdown of all lighting zones/patterns they have available.

you said you started with cali raised ditch lights , what do you have now? also i wouldn't spend 1k on a lightbar that would be used only a handful of times a year, like you said. never really looked into or heard of any good brands and what to get for light bars, so was just curious if it was worth the money. i really just want something bright enough to add enough light to the road and surrounding area so that if a deer or something decided to run across the road I could see it and have adequate time to react. Thanks

Correct, I now have a pair of Baja Designs Squadron Pros. I made the switch in hopes that the more powerful option would provide enough lighting so I wouldn't have to purchase a light bar, which I just ordered if that gives you any insight on how that went. lol

It kind of sounds like you have the desire to use this for road use? If that's the case, a light bar isn't the solution as they should only be used STRICTLY for off road use or extreme conditions. Running accessory lights may be beneficial for you but can potentially put other oncoming vehicles at risk.

i live on a road when at night there isn’t much of any oncoming traffic, and if it be the case there is i always turn my light bar off before they get to me because i can see their headlights. it’s a very curvy road haha. also i take it not a fan of the baja designs ditch lights?

No, I love my Baja Designs ditch lights. They just didn't solve my complaint like I had hoped and give me quite the distance I was looking for in open terrain. That's where I realized blending light zones is the only true solution.

If your primary want is for on road driving look into a better set of head lights, that $1,000 will be much better spent on a good set of retrofits that you will use every time you drive vs a light bar that is not allowed for on road use.

You’d be amazed how much better a good set of headlights would be. The Alpharex lights make for great pictures but perform poorly as actual headlights.

Your use case does not need a fancy light bar, if you like the way they look, just get the cheap one from Amazon. If you feel you need to run a light bar on pavement, it’s because you have shitty headlights.
