Looking to rehome my SKS that takes AK mags $800 or best offer

 

Sure thing, I haven't even shot it under NODs or zeroed it, just been trying to get all my kit together. I have taken it out up in the mountains during a pitch black night and good god, for a civ power IR laser, it goes FAR. The close range is amazing too, spills perfectly with a nice bright aiming laser in there.

It's definitely a ballbuster price wise... I saw the cost of 'em was going up, and I foresaw the stock market taking a shit (it took a much bigger one than I thought!) so while it hurt like hell to make it happen I got in at the right time. Got it used for just a hair under 3K. Has some "rack rash" or little nicks on the finish but that's all.

 

Oh wow, I haven't looked at prices in a while... I'll keep practicing passive aiming for a while...

Being able to aim passive is definitely worth practicing, but also being able to PID and then have an aiming laser right there is nice.
For instance I was just being a goober and I felt like zero dark thirty'ing my garage, and I could move around in there just fine and illuminate and "aim" into my cars with no issue.

There's plenty of cheaper ways to get those close quarters IR capabilities (for instance a holosun IR laser and a Surefire 1-cell vampire head is REALLY damn good for the price) but the MAWL is just king of the heap because that performance goes very, very far out there. Like 200+ yards where other civilian power stuff peters out.

What's kind of blown my mind about walking around under single tube NODs in natural darkness (some moonlight) is that I get what I feel is almost a hyper aware natural dark acclimation faster. Almost as if my brain takes the NVG eye and makes my non-NVG eye "see" the same. I felt a number of times like "wow it's bright enough out here that I could just take off the NOD and see just fine" but that absolutely wasn't the case.

Anybody have a good AR gunsmith they would recommend?

Got a front sight base taper pin on a rifle that's not seating fully. Need someone with actual tools like an arbor press to get it out or in... May have buggered the pin itself too trying to bash that little sucker in.

I've been there before but... I dunno, I think their work recently has slipped bigtime. Dumb mistakes that shouldn't happen. Engraving is G2G, coating is G2G, but... I personally have experienced the following:

-A scope was removed for some work on an AR and when it was re-mounted it was "re-zeroed" completely incorrectly. They just shined a bore laser at a close wall and made the reticle match, without realizing they had just given the gun the ol' 2-foot 2-mile zero. I was wondering why the fuck no shots were even on paper at 75-ish yards till I realized I was only about 12 clicks from the dead stop on max elevation.

-A surefire muzzle device was installed without the centering ring they say is required on all installs right in the instructions

-Another scope was given back to me with the windage and elevation turrets reversed, and the Vortex instructions on properly zeroing the elevation indicator turret completely ignored. I wondered why my elevation said "left-right" and my windage said "up-down" and the elevation indicator was fully clicked out:


For me that's 3 strikes of easily avoidable RTFM fuckups and not caring. Anymore I just do all the shit I can myself.
