This pretty much sums it up. There isn't a lot to do there. But Phoenix is only 4 hours away, plenty to do there!

 

Are you looking into living outside of the base? Do you have children as well?

As for lifestyle, Yuma has its mall with the common chain restaurants like chilis, red lobster, Olive Garden, ect. The down town area is investing into nice bars and winery's. There is the water park plus all the recreational activities as mentioned above and casinos. The Quechan casino just hosted the Marine Corps Ball this past weekend.
While the economy is seasonal in Yuma, there are a lot of people here that employed by MCAS, Boarder patrol and the Army's proving grounds.

Does anyone know what could cause my wheel to shake when braking without warped rotors being the culprit?

And.. possible warped rotors. Ask me how I know Nick. Lol. Just had mine replaced last week. Vibes when braking are gone. They were warped even when I didn't they were.

 

How do you know it's not your rotor

 

Not my rotor because still did it the same day I changed them. Can brake pads cause it?

 

Tires were also balanced after I got new ones, still didnt change.

 

If you really want to rule out warped rotors (new ones may be warped too!) jack up one front wheel at a time (or both at once if you like), pull the wheel off and put a dial indicator on the rotor. There should be no more than about 5 thousandths of runout on the face of the rotor. Then check the back side of the rotor as well, it could be a non-uniform thickness causing the steering wheel to shake as you brake. Knock off rotors are frequently out of spec, OEM not so much.

If you have runout it is possible the hub where the rotor bolts on is somehow bent and making a good rotor wobble as the wheel rotates, you need a new hub in that case. If the steering wheel shake in only on braking it almost has to be something in the rotor or the hub that hold the rotor. Any brake shop can do this for you, I would take it back to where you had the work done and ask them to check runout.

Funny thing is it shakes fairly violently under easy braking, but stays smooth and straight under hard braking.

 

Given that, I would say that it is either a warped rotor, of perhaps an issue with a piston in your caliper not applying an even clamping force upon light breaking...

edit: Was it doing this before you had that issue with your brake line a few months back?

 

X2 sounds like a rotor.

Get new one's, don't turn them.
