How much other than that do you drive? The math probably isn't going to work to cover a payment with fuel savings. Subarus are probably in the 20s and the FR-S is about 30 (with premium).

My Jetta TDI runs mid 40s for average MPGs. But it's paid for, I do 60+ miles of round trip commuting, and put 36,000 miles on it in 17 months. The Taco got like 13,000 miles in the year I was driving it regularly concurrent with the Jetta. I drive a bunch and spend less than $200 a month in fuel.

Monday through Friday I will probably be driving 30 miles a day.

    30 miles per day
    150 miles per week
    7,800 miles per year
    487 gallons at 16 mpg
    $1706 at $3.50/gallon per year
    $142 per month

40 mpg would be $50 per month or $92 saved in fuel cost, but probably a several hundred dollar payment.

Your not even going to use a full tank a week. Be honest, it you want something different just because OK, but amount of driving and actual math doesn't prove out in this case.

I traded my 08 Taco for the Jetta, but I was commuting 100 miles a day, plus my excess other driving. Putting fuel in the damn thing every 1.5 days got old FAST!!!! 550-650 miles per tank is awesome. But I instantly missed having a truck around and finally found the 99 to get a truck and get back into offroading. Which has now turned into a buggy and 3/4ton towrig.

Keep the truck Nick. No car payment is a blessing. Even if you're only getting 16.. you'll come out ahead. Especially if you're going to be driving more freeway miles. My commute is 45 round trip, 5 times a week.. and I was worried my MPG would kill me.. luckily.. it has gone up with the freeway driving.

I wish I would have kept my 01 paid off Tacoma. But no.. had to have a 2nd Gen.. so I bought one at your age.. was tough.

You have a nice truck, Have put time and money into it. Hold onto it, and bank whatever you can, minus the gas.. which wont be as bad as you think.

Nick is wanting to trade his truck for a gas saver and spend less gas money however he doesnt realize that a car payment and Gas is still more than just the gas would be and it would make no sense to do that

Edit: And your truck sails in the wind

if he wants to spend money then he should just buy a car and have a car payment and just keep the truck and dont drive it as much

Nick, you forget that you'll be bit my a mod bug on the new car as well. So in no time you'll have wheels, suspension, some ricey exhaust and other mods to put your gas mileage right in the shitter again and end up spending just as much monies... So in other words, keep the fucking Taco and buy a hose for your vagina! :p
