    anyone changed the fluid and resealed the third member on a 2nd gen? looks like it should be pretty easy, need to do it tomorrow, work up with a small puddle under the third member. What fluid should i use? Anyone free to help me out?

    Changing the fluid is easy. Just remove the drain bolt and fill bolt on the back. Re-sealing it... not quite so easy but not all that hard either. To do it right, you need to unbolt the entire third member and pull it back. Don't remember if you have the 8.0 w/ e-locker or 8.4... the 8.4 is probably a little easier.

    - If you have the e-locker, make sure you have it locked before starting. Otherwise you can pull the servo off and do it manually by moving the teeth.
    - Drain diff
    - Remove both rear tires
    - Unbolt the four bolts holding the hub in place (so you can slide the axles back away from the 3rd member
    - Disconnect driveshaft
    - Unbolt the 3rd member
    - Remove or pull back the 3rd
    - Use some Mr Gasket
    - Reverse order to assemble

    Not hard, but time consuming and the driveshaft on mine was infuriating because AZ Driveshaft used green loctite on it lol.


    Alternate:
    Cheat, and just put a fuckload of black RTV/Silicon around the outside seal area and roll with it like I did for 50,000 miles before shattering the third (not related lol).
