Home AC went out yesterday. Even though I change my filters ever 3 weeks and clean my coils 2 times a year it still froze up into a giant block of ice. I got all the ice off, checked everything, cleaned the outside part of the air handler coils and thought I was good. Then I looked at the inside part of the coils...... H.O.L.Y.S.H.I.T.

There was a 1/4" of dirt/fur/goop/and who knows what else matted over the entire inside of both coils. Most areas dry as a bone and hard as a rock. Then up top there was massive amounts of clumpy, nasty, black, stuff that was goopy. Absolutely no airflow at all going through at least 90% of the coils. So I started to clean and nothing would budge. Got the hose out, started spraying away. Started pulling crap off the fins with a soft wire brush. Worked great, didn't do any damaged to the fins but I had to work slow and I sliced my knuckles on the fins a bunch. 3 hours later my AC is back in action.

    Here is the best part.

Typically in the summer it would take about 30-45 min to cool my house 1 degree. It has been like this since the day we moved in back in 2004. Now its cooling 3 degrees an hour. It used to run all day almost all day to keep my house at 80. Today it has barley been running and my house is at 79.

I've always cleaned the outside part of the coils, never thought once that it wasn't making it all they way through and cleaning the inside part of the coils. I use coil clean on every time I clean as well. I always assumed the other side of those coils were good. Boy was I wrong. I'm going to take another crack at cleaning it tonight to make sure I didn't miss anything. Then will be figuring out a new filter system for this AC unit as the one it has now doesn't seem to do jack shit.

Moral of the story, keep them coils clean!

Anyone been to the grand canyon and did some waterfall hike or some shit? My gf is driving me crazy about wanting to camp out at the grand canyon and hike some waterfall she heard about. The only one I can find is Havasupai Falls and it's on Indian reservation land or something I guess. Anyone ever camped and hiked it? I'll need special permits or some shit I'm guessing?

I bet she is thinking Deer Creek Falls (highly recommend it). I've been through the grand canyon a few times.

This page is for a guide company but will give you a good idea of what you can find.

Wish is was hot enough for AC here. Apparently New England skipped over August this year and straight into September.

It didn't work for me the first time. I had to do it a second time in order for it to work.

I've been thinking about letting go of the pre runner and picking up a 4x4, but if I do that the gf wants an IS350 Fsport.
