If unemployment only came with a good paycheck.

My boss just told me "Forget any plans you have this weekend, we have to work". They expect me to drop everything to work this weekend.

Boy he wasn't happy when I said "Fuck no".

    Haha.

My plan is to stay home with my kids. My wife got a big raise last week, perfect timing.

Starting EMT school on Monday. Time to get the hell out of an office and all the BS of IT.

Just sucks firing the nanny. She is a young girl with a kid of her own. She has become part of our family. Hopefully she can stay on one or two days a week, until I get certified and can get some work.

That's awesome man. I'm so burnt on IT that's why I'm moving to development.

But honestly, sometimes I feel like mowing lawns for a living is where it's at. Sunshine and a riding mower FTW!

Thats where I have been. I loved working in the field and going between sites, but I got burnt out on the end users and the pay is never good. So I stepped it up and I hated what I did. I hated being stuck in a dungeon with no windows, I hated the child like behavior of IT supervisors. I just hated going to work every day. It got so bad my wife all but begged me to quit. The timing wasn't right and it would have seriously hurt financially.

Now, everything is falling into place. My wife says she hasn't seen me this happy in two years. She is happier knowing that I am not forcing myself to go to work for her and the kids.

Shit you're over there hating IT and I can't wait to get an IT job lol. I'll tell you what, being the cabling/fiber guy that's gotta run all the cabling and fiber back bones while being to the beck and call of IT guys that need this or that, or always first thing they like to blame it on is the cabling Is NOT so much fun either haha

I ran cable for awhile. Was a real pain when it was summer, building was almost walled up but no working AC. Running cable everywhere. I don't miss that. Lucky my bass had to deal with IT, I just pulled cable.

Lol cmon it's not so bad.. I kinda enjoy it sometimes(like the times I leave the job and all the idfs look puuurrrtay). I've had to work in many hot buildings that guys are mudding walls and painting, they especially suck when it's humid though! I kinda do everything from data, voice, video, cameras and security, and fiber optics. Recently though all I've been doing I'd splicing fiber like crazy , I think like 2000 strands in the last few months. I like it though because I'm also going for my ccna so I get to know the entire system from a-z. . I think it's neat

It doesn't really matter what level you are at, in the world of IoE the transport is always at fault.

    i.e.
    1)Its the cable
2)Its the 'network' (being routers, switches, wireless etc etc)
3)It's the 'network' being the firewall
    4)It's the firewall
    5)It's the security
6)It's the sucky access point. Then, it's the network
    7)It's a network change

what usually comes down to in common troubleshooting:
1)It was a user error or fault of some sort
    2)Cable wasn't plugged in
    3)Misusing the infrastructure
4)It's a server or database issue
5)it was a storage issue or performance issue
    x)maybe it was the network...

Having been BICSI certified way back early 2000's and been through my career literally from the ground up, it only helps that much more as you progress through your career. Most people say "what's a 66 block? or I know what an MDF/IDF is, but what is it supposed to look like?" cabling standard etc etc. having a cabling OCD background helps moving forward with all of your work whatever you do. take pride in what you do. storage, servers etc etc teams dont give 2 sh!ts about the quality of their work installing junk, or the design of a enterprise or multi-tenant data center, or even a effin IDF closet.

I think all of those examples except #1 in the first section would fall under my problem. Usually that's the first thing they blame but I literally could not even tell you how many times I've been called out to fix "the cabling" And all it was was that one of the patch cords on either side was not plugged in or plugged in the wrong spot Hahaha

man I love the work I provide, I always take pride in it. My phone has like 2000 pics of cabling sweetness that I've done lol from 66 and 110 blocks, to NOCs with dozens of patch panels. Also I love cigarette packing cable and making it look PERFECT, so that the customers are like jaw dropped. It makes me all warm and tingly inside lol :D

With today's cabling standard, we dont need to cigarette pack anymore, but i still do anyway when i can. looks cleaner no doubt.

Shit idc what they say,I'll go out of my way to do if because none of my mdfs/idfs will be left undressed or half-assed. Looks a million times better than cables just spaghetti'd on a cable tray

Icon MT suspension, Pelfreybuilt front bumper, Relentless skids, Avid sliders, Avid custom rack. Pelfreybilt HC Rear bumper.
I have had Avid Off Road build me a custon bed rack and his more or less standard sliders. Top quality material and great craftsmanship. But what REALLY impressed me was when I asked about welding on the sliders the dude cam back in 5 minutes and said he could do it right then! He spent probably an hour and a half making some of the best MIG welds I have ever seen. No need for a TIG (which is usually concidered superior at least in looks) in his hands. Did a super job and was careful not to overheat the frame where there are plastic factory wire clips, etc. Definitely has experience with the Tacoma.

It did take Avid a few weeks to make the rack, but about what he quoted. It came out exactly as I made the plans and works fine for my RTT. Let me know if you want my dimensional drawing and I can e-mail it to you or anyone to copy or use as a starting point. It is for an Access Cab, so the "Long Bed". I have always been facinated by fabication of steel, now I want a roof rack.

How did you get a hold of the place.. I have pm and emailed him through Tacoma World and with my personal email address and havent got a response.. im not worried about it taking a few of weeks to build thats not an issue i just want to know that he has received my order and my money. the bar was $340 and it was $80 to have it shipped to TN and to me is worth every penny as long as i get it lol I just joined Tacoma world and have seen several post about avid and have read nothing but good things about Brandon and his Products.. I am really looking forward to mounting that bar on the front and equipping it with some fog lights so if anyone can help me get a hold of him i would greatly appreciate it..
    Thanks
