One of the cool new goodies to come out of shot this year !

Not a fan of the watch. I think it would make it harder to use as a tool. Plus I already got a Moto 360 and I'll never not rock a smart watch again.

I had a nice Fossil watch years ago. After I kept repeatedly breaking the band, I figured why wear a watch when I always have a smart phone in my pocket. I haven't seen anything with smart watched that have interested me.

Initially the Modern wrist watch was developed for military purposes, with the advancement of tech it looks like the wrist watch is going back to its use in applications where discretion and timing is paramount . . .

    Customization.

I have 83 watch faces to currently choose from. I've built a few of my own as well which is fun. There is a watch face for every occasion and a color to match. I'm going to my first Hockey game in March so I made a watch face with my hockey team on it. Want your seconds hand to glide like a rolex, type in the code for it and boom its gliding away. The programming for the watch faces are growing rapidly and there is a lot of neat features coming out. Every aspect of the watch face can be changed to meet my needs. I dream that one day the gauges in my truck will have the same ability.

I can check my security camera's on it. Receive and send texts/emails/G+. Adjust my Nest Thermostat. It tracks my steps, reads my heart rate, tells me when I get notifications on my phone. I can view the camera on my phone from my watch, which is loads of fun. The list keeps going. Mainly I use it to remind me of things. I must say "Ok Google, remind me at X that I need to do X" 20 times a day.

I've had it for 2 months now and if I forget it, I feel lost without it as if I forgot my cell phone. I have a note 4 which is stupid big and can be a bitch to get in and out of my pocket. I like that I can leave my phone charging in the kitchen and yet get all my notifications and everything on the watch while I walk around the entire house.

People ask me all the time about it and if they should get one. This is what I will tell ever person who asks.

If you are a geek, love to customize things, and don't mind looking like a major geek when you are talking to your wrist then this watch is for you.

If you do not like any of the above then do not buy it as it will loose its appeal to you very fast and will be a waste of $$$.

Maybe I'll look more into it. I have a HTC One M8. I feel it's a good size. Do the Android smart watches allow you to install apps like the phones? I have Zooper Pro and Popup Widget on my phone. Very customizable. I wish I could use Torque with Zooper.

Apps have to be made to support wear. Some dev's are quick about it. The guy who does my security camera software I use added wear support 24 hours after I asked him for it. Other apps take a lot longer. So but there are a lot more apps coming out for the watch. Lots of apps you go in and enable wear support. Power amp/google play music added support and you can turn up the volume, change songs, see album artwork, all on the watch. I connect my Google music to my chromecast on my home theater. Leave the phone anywhere and I can walk around the house, change songs, adjust volume and what not. It's handy.

I have a custom launcher on my watch and it's rooted as well.

Why would it get ran over by a truck? Why would you take a smart watch camping where there is no internet? You are talking about uses that it wasn't designed for. It's not an outside hunters watch, its a geek gadget. It would indeed suck for the zombies, unless the zombies had WiFi hotspots for some reason. :D

As for what it can do:

    Altitude - yes
    Barometic pressure - yes
Temp - Yes, of watch itself, watch battery, cell phone, phone battery, outside temp, inside temp, 7 days forcast, inside my house, inside my cabin, etc.

Also I can charge gadgets with fire while camping so charging it wouldn't be an issue.

I'll have to play with one in person. Looks like it requires Android 4.3+. I've been too lazy to update from 4.4.2. Not looking forward to 5.0 because the the Material design, and Xposed is not yet compatible with ART.

You can use it with 4.4.2 there is just some features that don't work. I think the only 2 are battery status and something else from the Android Wear app. Nothing you'd use anyways to be honest. But I have it on my Note 2 running 4.2.2 and my Note 4 running 4.4.2.

I've gotten Xposed and ART to work on my Note 2 but it was buggy as hell and went back to delvik since it was more stable. I can't root Note 4 on Verizon yet and that means no xposed for me. :(

That's something I didn't even think about. I shave my arms most of the time, the times I don't that would be hell.

Any of you guys pretty nifty with WolframAlpha?

Taking a business analysis class and I am supposed to be using this for a majority of my homework and tests.

Holla attaché boy if you have what it takes.

What are you trying to accomplish? I've messed with it a bit but it's been awhile.

I'm trying to accomplish passing this class with an A. As of right now I have a decent handle on it, but from the sounds of it, this class will go into depth into a variety of topics such as Leontiff Open Model, Optimization, Expected Value, Partial Derivatives, etc etc.

Maybe this discussion should be moved to the Tech Geek thread, so we don't confuse all the window lickers in here.
