The 75ft tower we had growing up at my house for a Ham repeater was struck by lightning. Scared the shit out of my sister and I. One of the two ground wires had been wrapped around the tower, because my mom put it there when she was mowing the lawn one time. The Lightning fried the sound board on our tv, welded some of the radio equipment my dad had on a rack in the office upstairs and fried the dialup modem surge suppressor (back in the late 90's when dialup was the thing to have). Luckily my mom had just turned off the computer before it struck. My dad spent a couple of hours looking over our house making sure it didn't catch fire. The smoke alarms went off for a few seconds too. We think it was struck one other time, but we can't confirm it though.

 

What are some things to do in flagstaff? Besides bar hop. Going to be up there this weekend exploring cinders and the lava tubes. What else?

 

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Flag. We went the Lowell Observatory, the ski lift up to the top of San Francisco Peaks, horseback riding at Mormon lake, went to Grand Canyon, and Williams. Mike and Ronda's The Other Place has great food. Also, Alpine Pizza is good.

 

Thanks guys. Not 21 quite yet which is why no bars. Were planning on camping and exploring cinders for sure. Were putting a list together of places we want to go explore

It's an 8 hr drive to San Carlos, it will be a good drive. Spend the night on a sailboat, and then another 8 drive back on Saturday.

Wifey is still studying for her tech, just will have to do it at the next Hamfest. Good luck on yours.

What grease do I need for my inner cv's? I saw some vavoline at autozone that said it was meant for Japanese vehicles as well as American for all sorts of uses included cv's. Would that work?

 

I use marine grade grease on everything. It's the red/pink stuff. That way, if my CV rips, it's less likely to have water cause issues and it doesn't necessarily spray the inside of the wheel well lol

 

Have fun man. You should stop in Hermosillo for some tacos at El Taquero Jr. they're usually only open for breakfast until they sell out which is around noon. It's on 14 de abril and Nayarit. They have the best tacos I've ever had!!
