I am also working on getting my wife to get her Tech, she has the book and the audio book loaded onto her phone. She was going to take the test at field day, but we had a last minute change of plans. Maybe this coming holiday season while she is on break from school.

Checkout 4x4ham.com and MCECG.org both are Phoenix based groups that do a lot. I wheel with the 4x4ham group ever couple of months, mostly jeep guys, but they are good guys. MCECG is a volunteer group that supports races of all sorts around the state. I will be camping near Kendrick Peak (NE of Flagstaff) to help a bike race in two weeks. Also helping the High school's JROTC programs do orienteering new lake pleasant. Even simple in town stuff like the Susan G walk and the Fiesta Bowl run. MCECG also runs a net every Monday @ 2100 to help educate hams on emergency communications with a new subject every week. This one is...

The 2nd goal of that net is to get people on the air, take the lurker and give the a structured chance to talk and build experience.

I don't have a shack at home, just no room. So I am building a rolling shack. I have a Yeasu FT-8800 and a Kenwood TH-D72A (HT running APRS) in my truck both with Diamond antennas mounted in the bed. I have another HT, but @llibrm (KG7ICM) borrowed it a year or so ago and never returned it. I do plan to get a Yeasu FT-857d for doing HF. The nice thing about some of these radios is you can move them from the shack to the truck pretty easily, just need to have multiple power cables and antennas.

If you need any help with anything, let me know, I am at I-17 & Glendale.

I actually want a new one of each. A hat trick of radios would be nice.

Yeah I have to get my license because when i run with some of the FJ's they all use Ham, not CB. I PM'd you about getting the audio books as I have no electrical skills and tried just studying the flashcards.

one of my friends passed just going through the flash cards at
https://hamstudy.org which is free to signup and use.
But I feel I need some background to actually understand it, and god knows I could use some electrical understanding for future projects on the truck.

    Thanks
    Chris

The 4x4ham group has a lot of FJ guys too. Get your ticket and enjoy the airwaves. I replied your PM.

hamstudy.org is good tool, so is qrz.com and both free. Reading/listening to the Gordan West books will help you understand the concept as principles too.

So this guy was "that guy" at the bar last night on 4th Ave in Tucson. Wife finally let me go ahead and have a night out with the boys since our daughter arrived. Nearly 9 months cooped up with a prego woman can make you lash out like a monster at the bars.

I'm finally able to hold down food and water. I'm never drinking again hahaha

I would imagine it's just a foot longer. I cut mine at the downturn between the axle and spare. But I'm unsure if your hangers are the same

So you have resorted to selling your pipe now? I can't image the hourly rate in Tucson is very much.
