Whats the best antenna for CB's? I want something that I can either make into a quick disconnect or fold down.

 

I've liked the Wilson 1000 on a magnet mount...Look into Firestick too..

You bet Oliver. I had a friend who ran the Wilson on his Z71 back in 97. It was mounted to a Magnet Mount so he could remove it from the roof of his truck. Pretty strong magnet too..and didn't interfere with his signal somehow. I ran a 102 inch (9 foot!!) whip on my truck back in the day. I used to hang out with my old redneck friends in the Walmart parking lot and gab away in the CB...ya...I had no life (like I have one now )

Anyone know anyone who does diff work such as locker and gear installs? I know your gonna say ya a lot of shops do...im looking for an individual who would be willing to help me learn and help with possibly setting mine up.

 

The backlash scares me and getting the shimming perfect.

I actually talked to my teacher for gear and chassis design for next semester and he said we can make it into a week long class project where he gets his GM gear buddy to teach us for to do something like that. who knows if itll happen lol

 

I was looking at the FSM and they have SST being used all over...are they really necessary? Are there any special tools needed to do this?

9' of coax is kinda short. Depends were you plan to mount the antenna

 

A quality antenna goes a long way. Make sure it's tunable too
