Ok, so I got it all wired up. It is mounted perfectly to where the bumper shows up as a line on the screen and when whatever I am backing up to is at that line, I have about 3 inches of clearance with my hitch on. Also wired in some aux mini driving lights as additional reverse lights so now I can use the color side of the camera without having limited light from the reverse lights. Mine is a Pioneer AVH-P4300 DVD with XM Sat radio and gps module (both add ons that I havent hooked up yet).

I saw a sks/dragunov clone for sale, first saw dragunov and then realized it was just a clone. I am trying to get a 270.

    This^

Even if it were possible to make this work how do you plan on having music and maps at the same time? the SD slot is for loading more detailed maps that the unit itself cannot store internally. Have you ever had the chance to play around with a Lowrance before? They're awesome for what they are but it is very specific piece of equipment, let me know if you wanna check one out!

Was planning on going with a tube or hybrid front bumper but for what I need it seems impractical, it got me looking at N-fab and Smittybilt light bars. Has anyone seen these in person they look identical online but the Smittybilt is like $40 cheaper.

I have on and off played with a 540c, not playing music but just looking at menus and toggling around the map. Guess ill do more research on it. Maybe ill juat throw a cheap deck into the glove box.

Got a good place for me to read up on user interface? Should i just download the manual and read that?

Having used both the 540c and the HDS5 are entirely different systems. Reading the manual is a great idea but I'm fairly certain that you will not be able to use it to play music and if you could possibly make it work you will then lose the ability to load HD maps. a deck in the glove box is a great idea!

In terms of tracking, options and just general ease of use the HDS5 is a much better unit all around the the 540. The pages feature makes navigating between menus super easy and the internal antenna makes it much simpler to wire up but allows the option to upgrade the antenna in the future for even more precise tracking.

the HDS units are fool proof, i have no doubt that you could figure out how to operate one on a matter of minutes. We have been having some good luck with these as well and they come with an upgraded land maps pack.

we have these good an in stock
