Nice! When were you guys planning on going up to the grand canyon? My cousin will be in from Oklahoma that week.. I have the 20th through the 29th off. Was planning on taking him up there sometime, along with a bunch of other stuff that week.

So, anybody else that has those days off, we will be tryin to do a lot of stuff.. salt river, the lake, mill, pool parties, shooting, etc.

Weather for the Grand Canyon is about the same as Phoenix. It does get a little colder but not a lot.

Now if you are going to be camping at the bottom of the canyon, then it gets much colder, still during this time of the year not enough to really even need a sleeping bag. When I rafted the canyon I got a cheap-o sleeping bag from walmart and never once crawled into it as it didn't get cold enough for one.

For the rafting you have to plan it out pretty far in advance if you do a guided trip. If you go on your own, you better be damn good at rafting. :D
There is no help once you get down there and your cell phones do not work at all obviously.

You can't burn fires down in the canyon. It's a HUGE no-no with them. You can use propane grills and what not, but no open fires at all. This is year round no matter what.

No problem. If you have more questions let me know.

You can burn up top if they allow it (I'd doubt no now with all the fires AZ has seen lately). I've rafted the entire canyon once and the lower half 2 times now and at no point in time would they allow you to burn down at the bottom. Granted, there isn't anyone patrolling down there very often. But the spots you hike down are more populated so their might be a ranger or someone.

They told us at the start we couldn't eat the fish we caught. I ate some of the best Rainbow trout EVER down there.

just don't tell the park rangers that ;)
