I'm going to get up bright and early to head to u-fix-it and install my extended 5100 Billies. I was going to do the rear ss brakelines but I guess then need some extra fab work so ill just do them when I head back to Yuma.

so i have learned a very important lesson tonight. If you have a truck with 13 inches of travel always have a floor jacket because the normal car jacks dont work.

Just drill out the holes a little bigger on the brackets for the new lines and add some washers. Its easy but i'd rather take my time and not be charged by the hour while doing it. Bleeding the brakes is what will be the most time consuming.

Josh if you want some help with the front brakes I can help you. I haven't done drums before but I'm sure we can figure it out (I should probably inspect mine too). I got the Duralast rotors at autzone (cause it was sunday, and Napa was closed as were the dealers). So far... it stops just as well as the stockers did... honestly I can't see justifying paying for the dealer ones thus far after how well these have actually worked out.

For the carrier bearing install I'll have to pull the invoice, but to do the rear u-joint, carrier bearing, removal/install/balance and all parts was 330 at Arizona Driveshaft.

I'd just have your tires road forced at discount tire...

As for the a/c blower motor... what's the issue with it? If it's the clicking... have you tried to re-grease it first? It's pretty easy... I can help you out with it if you want. I still have a ton of grease too (if I can find it lol)

road-force balance and a tire rotation once your there. The sedona trip might have knocked out some lead weights out with all that mud.

Awesome. thanks Jake. Check Out the Az section for the wrenching thread. I have all the details of what I plan on getting done in there. Let me know what you think.

Definitely. Goin by today to see what they say.

The truck definitely feels and sounds different after being at the dealer. I don't like it :( I switched to a new synthetic oil (already running synthetic, but tried a new kind) and now I have a slight knocking sound. Not sure whats goin on. Definitely needs some tlc

Advice with drums, do one side at a time so you can use the other side as a reference

Your just finding flaws in everything. I think the louder tocking sound is just in your head. These engines always tick.

Anyways, I'm here at u-fix-it 15 after 8 and all the bays are full already. Just waiting anddrinking a cup of joe, enjoying the weather.

My engine makes ticking sounds too with Mobil 1... but that's just the nature of the valves on the 4.0L. Cliff is running amsoil I think and his engine actually does sound fairly significantly quieter... but I looked up some results on Blackstone Labs from other Tacoma users back with my 08 and the results with Mobil 1 were pretty awesome on paper. I never saw any amsoil tests so it may be just as good or better, but I just haven't researched it. Knocking though... that's a different game and a bad one if it's actually knocking. First things I'd consider... what gas are you running, and what octane? I run QT (cheveron and shell as backup) 91 only in my truck... since I beat the living shit out of it as you well know. I'd find it very hard to believe your truck would be developing engine issues and mine isn't.... lol.

Also as for re-surfacing rotors... honestly just drop a bit of cash on new ones man. Re-surfacing is always a temporary fix... and with how anal you are on balance issues, vibrations, ect... it won't be nearly as good as just replacing.... nor will it last. If they are warped they're done. You can improve them short term but the damage is done at that point. I am running toyota pads though with my vatozone specials... the pads make more of a difference than anything (pending the rotors don't explode lmao... but that's only a real concern with improperly drilled/slotted setups or really shitty materials).

It's not the usual ticking sound. I know that one ;). It's a lower tone, slower knocking sound.

But your probably right somewhat..I'm picking up on everything too. Lol

Another consideration with knocking is your O2 sensors may be toast too...
