I was thinking about getting wasted on girly drinks this weekend too.

 

101 north through Scottadale is fucked. Taken me 15 min to get from Thomas to Indian school.

 

I know the feeling. I used to work at a small mom and pop .com company as the CIO. But I was also the electrician, plumber, AC guy, network engineer, system admin, etc, etc. If anything broke at anytime day or night I had to get down there and fix it. So many nights/weekends lost to fixing servers or whatever.

 

There's a crash and an overturned cement truck. It's going to be a while.

 

Last company I was at before here was like that. Construction company, general contracting, project management, and architecture, about 300 employees. I was their second IT guy; their first IT guy was in way over his head. (Although he was a great guy, one of the hardest working IT guys I've ever met, he just had never worked on anything more complicated than a five-station dentist's office.). The first three or four months I was there I was in every weekend rebuilding servers, rolling out new servers, installing new network hardware, new firewalls, everything. The whole time the one owner who was the CFO was just wringing his hands, "Do we really need all of this?" "Yes!" "Couldn't we just do this cheaper?" "No!" When I was done everything was humming along perfectly and everyone thought I was the Second Coming.
