Suspension travel (flex) really doesn't have anything to do with ride quality in the sense of a soft rear end. That really comes down to spring rate and valving.

If you arent happy with the ride, I'd probably start by getting different springs. The dakars are pretty stiff I believe. Then you can get some fox or kings that you can play with the valving in and dial in your ride.

It doesn't sound like long travel would really be needed tbh. Lot of $$$ and work.

    ^^^This is great info.

Maybe go for a ride with @snowboard704 he has the Deaver J59 pack with some Kings in the back. I bet it rides pretty nice.

I find the dakars to be relatively soft.. they ride great, I need the flex because I'm constantly carrying a tire which is OK because I'm locked but would like something a little more stable which i think i can achieve if i can get the rear to flex more....

he is one of the few trucks I see getting good results from shock relocation, atleast results I would want if i did all that work.... are the j59s SUA?

EDIT::::When i say useable i mean there becomes a point where even though your suspension has more droop, it doesnt have any pressure on the drooped tire so it becomes useless other than looks...

No the J59 pack is stock location replacements.

Also look @a.smo. He did a shock relocation and has the AllPro standard leaf pack. It flexes pretty good. He has some Fox shocks. I think you will see a better benefit with using Kings/Foxs/ADS because you can valve them to your needs.

I am running the j59s and they flex great and am running crap shocks at the moment. Not sure if I am going to put some extended Kings in or go full long travel

His truck turned out pretty good but in his flex pictures my tire drops just as far as his and i didnt do any relocation might just be his photo angle though.... I'm trying to come up with a way to keep the tires on the ground more FIRST... after that I'll pull the trigger on some nice shocks to adjust the ride a bit... if that makes sense.

Pictures can be deceiving. I think you would have to measure to see if you are drooping as much as he is. I think that the only way you are going to get more droop is to go custom pack or do something like Chevy 63s. Maybe someone with some more know will have a better idea.

J59 flex. I think the pack flexs amazing considering where it sits at ride height

I have no clue what the concern is then?

Why do you want more "flex"?

because I want to be able to keep the drooped tire on the ground more with pressure on it still... right now i carry it ALOT... so more flex with pressure on the drooped tire will make it a bit more stable.

Yes there is a good amount of droop with them. But as with everything else there will always be trade offs.

    Yessir!

with what i have researched and read chevy 63's vs long travel or shock relocation is right about the same amount of work.. obviously long travel you get into bed cages and stuff...
