    My parents would give me $20/mo to clean up after our dog and clean/maintain the pool. If I wanted more they would pay me $10/hr to do all the misc cleaning around the house and help at any job sites my dad had going. I learned early on I had to work to earn the things I wanted and was always eager to earn more. Got a job doing dishes when I was 16 and have been working since.

    Yah mines to little to get an allowance just yet, but I am putting $100 a month into a vanguard portfolio for her, keep this up for the next 17-20 years and she will enter adulthood with a nice nest egg for hopefully her house down payment and more.

    My son gets $60 a week. He keeps his room clean to my standards ( Marines) mowes the lawn takes out the trash daily and sets it out for the trash man. He also plays football has a 3.6 gpa. He stays busy. When my kids started getting cash as birthday present I had them put half of it in to a savings account. They could spend the rest. When my daughter graduated from high school she had 5k in the bank. Fuck I didn't have 5k till last week.
