I’d argue the jolting of the roll will rock you sideways, but hey, I’m not a physicist lol.

Maybe when I think of rolling I’m more thinking about wadding it up at 65, not while crawling. Idk but that shit will flatten any roof.

I think it’s common to know that it’s best to have a cage if you want harnesses.None the less he can do what he wants though.

    Easy loop today exploring.
@RPS1030 Gaia works awesome! Like how you can track your route and take pic's along the way then export the KMZ file. Plus the route planning & guidance is pretty nice.

The big issue with 4 points is subduction, or submarining, where in a frontal collision your ass slides forward in the seat and you end up with your lap belt across your tits.
Luckily there are 4 pointers out there that counter this by allowing differential slack in their shoulder harnesses, so in a crash it would behave just enough like a 3 point belt to keep you safe(r). It's just that most cheap ones don't have that tech. Good brands like Schroth will.

That said, 5 point harnesses open the next level of the matryoshka doll of safety: HANS. With a good 5 point your body is not going to move around much, but your coconut is. You ass won't slide out, but your C4 vertebra is gonna be in a world of shit. Of course not many people wanna put on a helmet and HANS collar every time they go out for a joyride.

It's all a balancing act between comfort and safety.

I went down & through this whole rabbit hole with my Miata- ended up removing the 1st generation airbags (design parameters were to stop an unbelted occupant at 40!) in favor of an ASW 4 point and a padded, top notch half roll cage. It's not the optimal setup but it is better than stock, and the best compromise between daily driveability and overall safety.
