Gears are definitely fucking life changing. For those on the fence about their 3rd gens and swapping gears, do it, you won't regret it.

I live in gilbert. I always wheel with a couple friends who drive j**ps because all my other Toyota friends have opposite schedules as me. Just got some proper meat on my truck. Can’t wait to hit box canyon VERY soon. Likely at night.

MT stuff, RTT stuff, the usual.
Didn’t take pics, but smoked a chuck roast, then had some roasted red potatoes and some shells & cheese since the kids love those.

    And a cherry coke.

Can we discuss this over PM?

You used to own a Tacoma and inherited a Ferd.
Spend less on strippers and more of Ferd.
    Problem solved

Niiiiice! SDHQ makes some slick stuff and I was considering their sliders for a while, but the cost plus the fact that I was on the fence about the looks resulted in the come-to-Jesus moment of "if you're not in love with it, don't drop $1200 on it" and so I went with the more utilitarian-looking Avid. It's gonna look good with the light bar that I just got.

Mine came with 4.3's from the factory and I keep dancing around the idea of a regear. For the V6 or the 4, the ratios on the new 6 speed are stupidly long.
Even with stock tires you're not completely out of your gourd for thinking about it- the theoretical top speeds on 5 and 6 are just stupid.
At the end of the day 6th doesn't save you much gas if you're never in it... and on coast down you aren't running the injectors anyways.
I'd bet the MPG loss from a stock-size wheel re-gear might be so minuscule to the point of actually being statistically insignificant.
