I am not running. I don't believe in politics.

Here is my take on it, we have all heard the quote: "if you can't handle me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best" -Marilyn Monroe- (I would smell her farts). The same should apply here. If you cannot prove that you were living in Arizona during the hottest 2 months of the year, you are considered a snowbird and subject to a "use tax".

It sounds mean, and I know some will claim an economic benefit to snowbirds. In theory it's a great idea, in practice, it doesn't work. Let's look at Fountain Hills as an example. I am not sure many people here live in Fountain Hills. It's beautiful, and I love it there. Even though most of us don't live there, we pay for their public goods. Why? Because more than 30% of the population of Fountain Hills is comprised of snowbirds. People who either own winter homes there, or who rent a home there in the winter, leaving it vacant the rest of the year. The revenue from their city sales tax cannot support their public goods needs. The city filed Bankruptcy years ago. Their police station was closed down and replaced by Maricopa County Sheriffs (everyone else pays for that). Every valid attempt to generate revenue, is thwarted. A movie theater was proposed to be opened on Avenue of the Fountains a few years back to replace the bowling alley, which closed down. This was met with opposition from the community, many of whom were out of town, because they didn't want people coming from the surrounding areas and disturbing the peace in Fountain Hills. Many of the large businesses struggle, close down, or are seen as write offs: Chase, Fry's, Safeway, Pei Wei... Shit, even the fountain isn't what it was. I don't know if this is still the case, but for a while, the fountain was only running at 2/3 of its capacity due to cost.

So yeah, it is a pain in the ass driving and dealing with snowbirds, but it also creates real financial issues.

    Your all good!

AZ is NOT like the east coast DMV gestopo!
They will simply plug into your OBD port scan for codes and pressure test your gas cap.

Haha I need to extend my filler neck so I need to get that addressed then, but I would assume that Scottsdale is under the same conditions as phoenix since its just outside the area? Appreciate the feedback!

Your in the metro area, so it’s county inspection not city.

If you lived outside of the metro area in a different county there might not be an inspection at all!

Honestly as long as the gas cap and OBD pass your good, you could everything else duct taped on and pass!

Im digging this state more and more by the day. HELL YEA! So then does county inspection not require smog or would I still need that?

It depends on the age of the vehicle if I recall correctly. Over 5 years(?) then they would require a smog test. If your truck is newer, they just plug into the OBD. (I am going from memory)

Yea man will now need a smog test since its at 6 years. Ah oh well man, its an issue that has needed to be addressed for a little bit.

    This is true!

If the vehicle has OBD2 then it’s plug and play.
If the vehicle is OBD1 or older then it goes on the rollers for smog, unless it’s AWD. If it’s AWD they test smog at idle.

Its not actually a "smog" test, if your check engine light is off with no pending codes - 1996 or newer you will pass. They will check the gas cap only as well. They plug a code reader into or OBD2 to check and make sure it has not been reset recently and that all emission systems are ready.

They don't look under your hood, sometimes they take a mirror just to check for catalytic converters usually not. It is a very easy test.

I think part of the issue with congestion is also the school year, ASU/other universities in particular as well as Spring Training. Snowbirds+out of state students+spring training tourists= much more congestion

When Spring Training starts my commute goes from bearable to WTF just happened. It is a cluster fuck of mostly east coast moronsnot waiting until after rush hour to go out.
I do enjoy going to some of the games but I think FL would be better for most of the teams

I hear you on the spring training. Last year I made the mistake of going to Home Depot at Mesa Riverciew during a spring training game. They had the roads all closed and by the time I got out of the store, it took me 45 minutes to get out of the shopping center. I was born in Chicago, I have only cried 3 times in my life and one of those times was when the Cubs won the World Series, but goddamn it, that kind of clusterfuckery is unacceptable.

What grinds my gears, people that switch lanes without turn signals, slow people on the HOV lane when it’s a free lane (9am-3pm, 7pm-6am), hoe asses that go past the merge & will even ride the side of the freeway just to get in front of someone, those who cut someone off only to drive slow as shit... I think that’s about it

In my old truck I would go to war. People trying to merge late would have to put their car into my truck if they wanted over. I hate those people. Didn’t care with the old truck cause they would just hit my tire and it would kill their shit.

Now I don’t really want to play that game anymore haha
