Sweet looking bike! What is that rear adjuster thing near the rear cassette? Ive never seen something like that.

 

Thanks. I couldn't tell you, he explained it but I forgot with the drive home. I'm gonna research it a little more before I start tinkering with things. First mountain bike so lots to learn

It's called a brain fade, I think it softens and forms the rear shock, but doesn't fully lock.

 

That's a good bike, I believe that canister is a 'Brain' which Specialized used for a while. If I remember correctly it's supposed to function as a lockout to eliminate pedal bob when climbing, but I could be wrong.

I love those wheels. They're popular as hell for Miatas and the only reason I didn't end up with a set was I went for Advanti Storm S1's instead:


The RPTs are soooo pricey though, and all for a ~1.9 pound weight loss over the SCS wheels I already have.

I was hoping to spring for a set of ADS shocks but... there's no way I could swing both.

nah.. I like the tan.. and that its original paint. maybe once its completely destroyed I'll have the body straightened and painted.

it's a fun place to work for sure. It can be dangerous though. I imagine its just as hard working at a place that sells taco or ho-runner goodies all day too. Too many shiny things
