Nice man those are the same pedals I had on my commuter road bike. Its amazing the amount of crap weather those pedals have seen and still work as expected.

If you want reliability, high quality and longevity, get shimano pedals.

This topic reminds me of my old downhill mtb days.

Crashed down the mountains in Whistler Canada for 3 days straight once. I couldn't feel my hands by the half way mark.

Nothing quite like riding the gondola up and into the snow, and then bombing down hills into 60 degree weather!

They def are quality, but shimano arnt sticky enough for me when in the wet. I do agree shimano has some of the most robust components out there as they seldom die.

Probably. All the bikes have been sold off.

I play chess a lot now.

I used to not mind the thought of breaking an arm or a leg, but now that just seems like too massive of an inconvenience.

So now I drive slow on dirt roads, look at pretty scenery, read a lot of books, and do my best to avoid purposefully putting myself into harms way!

I hear ya as I can only imagine breaking a bone would suck to recover from. At the same time, are you trying to distract your inner thrill seeker or just appreciating the other side of life?

Now that I have the 4th piece of metal in my body I am probably not far behind you lol. So far I have had to give up rodeo, ice hockey, snowboarding and mountain biking. Maybe this is why I like walking in the woods so much

I tend to think I am appreciating the other side of life. A lot has changed between the old days of bombing hills, rocketing an R6 around AZ, and racing cars (a BMW E30) to today.

I'll definitely race cars again, but I think the two wheeled thrills have become extinct for me.

That's cool man that you can leave that life behind you. I used to be a timid child when I was young until I started DH, after that I just saw the world differently and became more of an adrenaline seeker. Because of that alone, I don't think I could ever tame that side of me as that's what I grew into.

I hope you don't take any offense at all in my comments.

    No offense taken whatsoever.

I am glad that there are still thrill seekers out there in the world. Makes for some seriously cool YouTube videos that absolutely blow my mind!

The bottom line (I think, as of today with my current experiences and thoughts), for me, comes down to the fact that I really want to be, to the best of my ability, a jack of all trades. Life is incredibly varied, and my time is limited, so I take the journey of multiple paths. Life is all about experiences to me. So I tailor the year to year, week to week, and sometimes even day to day, with that personal guiding principle in the forefront of my mind.

Have you looked into intermittent fasting? I do it occasionally, one day a month or so. No food or liquids that have any calories for 18-24 hours. It really cranks my metabolism. Tricks your body much in the same way switching up workouts does. Once you get used to the feeling of being hungry and then getting over it, it stops bothering you. You can actually turn it into motivation to keep going. It also really helps to reduce sugar cravings. The less sugar you eat the less your body craves it.
