Agreed...I only go to places that are more backcountry and less travelled. My biggest issue with holiday weekends beyond increased volume of traffic/people is the more blatant disregard for LNT principles. Stresses me out, man...the exact opposite of why I go!

I ordered cash wash supplies yesterday which I never do. May wash the car by hand , which I haven’t done in a long time, this weekend.

I hear you, at the doc's now for the wife's 3rd unplanned visit post surgery including the 2 ER trips. Honestly hoping he can just get her admitted to the hospital to recover. She's in really bad shape

Sorry to hear that, man...prayers for a speedy recovery. My opinion on doing what's best for the billing versus what's best for the patient is well known and a constant battle.

I thought she should have been admitted the first night but stabilize and release is the pattern. Right now she's extremely dehydrated to the point I worry about her organs shutting down. She hasn't had solid food in 10 days maybe 3 ensures and a tiny bit of soup. Can't drink because of the pain in her throat, but needs to drink to help her dried out throat.

Sounds like she would benefit immensely from humidified O2, but unfortunately stabilize and release is the name of the game.

Let us know if you guys need anything at all...I'm sure I speak for all of us that we've got your back.

Update, unfortunately this was time for some tough love from someone other than her husband. They wont admit her to the hospital, and I actually agreed with the doc on most of it. She is at a stage where the only person that is going to make it better is her. She simply just needs to drink water even if it hurts like hell at first. IV wont keep her throat moist which is where her pain is. The more water she can drink the better she will feel in many ways, unfortunately the first few glasses are going to hurt a lot. The doc got way too preachy about how pain meds are bad and create addicts etc told her to stay off the oxy and switch to tylenol. I disagreed with that bit. She's been through enough surgeries and is light on the pain meds it is not a concern. So I told her to take another oxy on schedule and as soon as she feels it kick in to drink a pint of water, we'll repeat that process until she sees some improvement. I gave her a challenge since she has been craving food everytime she see's a food commercial on TV. I told her the more she can drink the sooner she will heal and the sooner she can eat real food. I did also set up the humidifier for her good suggestion @TailHook

I will say it is an absolutely horrible feeling coming home seeing your wife doubled over on the ground in pain and crying knowing there is nothing you can do to help her.

Seems like we go through weird cycles as far as pain meds go, either docs are like “just tough it through this ass amputation we’re about to give you” because the public sentiment is any pain med turns you into an addict, or they’re handing it out like candies at Halloween... I remember in college my buddies girlfriend ate shit when we were decorating for Christmas, fell off the stool next to the tree and whacked her head. Wanted to get checked out cause she had some dizziness so we took her to urgent care. No concussion or anything but she came home with a full bottle of perks.

I've definitely noticed the trend towards precaution. When I had my hips replaced in 2012 they sent me home with like 60 days worth of perc's. My ankle surgery in December I had like a weeks worth. Went to the clinic in walgreens for some muscle pain in my back last summer, only wanted a muscle relaxer, got lectured about how they dont give out pain med scripts there. I was like i dont even want pain meds. I think the new laws in the state where you have to get scripts in person scares docs into thinking they're going to be held more accountable etc.

They have changed the laws regarding the dispensing of narcotics. They are only able to write for a weeks worth I believe. In theory this is good but like most government intervention they have taken it too far. It hurts patient's that have cancer or legitimate chronic pain as they have to go more often to the pharmacy and MD. The docs should be held more accountable but some still don't read the laws and give the pharmacist a hard time when we remind them. It has helped some.

    Welcome to AZ ;)
I've touched up a few dings in the hood & front area, replaced the windshield, got a chip in the red emblem.
I sprang for clear bra a couple weeks ago.
