My guess is the 97000 lightning strike night took it out. It's very handy to keep track of usage. I enjoy being able to travel and remote heat or cool the house before returning home. I'll be installing a whole-home surge protector in my place. Wanted one for years. I guess now is the time.

My biggest beef was the almost two hours of troubleshooting before telling me I was out of warranty.

I discovered a new mod this weekend! First, go to target and get a bag of caramel corn. Next, remove the upper 2/3rds contents and leave the rest of the bag under your seat for 3 days. It will smell just like walking in the store. Now you have the target anytime mod too!

Last couple days at work have been fun. Haven't told anyone yet that I accepted the offer. With my vacation time this weekend I had legitimate concern my boss would just tell me to take a hike and I'd be 2.5 weeks without pay. I want to get up to Page by 8pm tomorrow so I'll break the news near the end of the day and say I have rush out for my drug screen and get out a couple hours head start on our vacation.

The good news is If she doesn't let me finish my 2 weeks my old agent will bring me back to help on some projects for 2 weeks.

:anonymous: ended up doing this. One bolt was stripped and i didnt feel like dealing with it. I may end up putting it back later but after driving it today it still feels planted and i had no problems with rapid lane changes.

The best part is the mystery clunk ive been chasing is gone!

Sounds like a car salesman doing car salesman things: get them in and try to sell them something, anything. I expect a higher degree of professionalism from Toyota folks, though...but alas, they're all necessary evils.

Anything to get you there and fall in love with something.
Car buying has become fun, for me :)
Play the game but set the rules and terms.
Never be afraid to walk. Go in knowing all their pricing and finance charges etc etc.

Even funnier now that both my boss and office manager think I won't get the job because most of the claims adjusters are much younger. Office manager just told me that he's not sure I'll land it and they'll go a different route because I'm older. Lolololol. Had a hard time keeping a straight face on that one

From the second any dealership sees you walk in it's all a very carefully crafted mind game...

They play dirty, every trick in the book even down to outright bullying tactics. It's really scummy some of the stuff they try to pull with that. Not so much for me, but you hear all the time how they do that shit to the elderly, and you know they're ripping off less assertive people all day every day.

Think about how popular shit like Carvana has become, they basically outright let you know that they're dicking you down but because they frame it as "there's no haggling experience" they get people in.

I still kind of hate it considering it can be a colossal waste of time. They'll do shit like burn the clock coming up with numbers which are still shit. I wanted to get food half an hour ago dickhead, I should have walked 5 minutes into this whole grand misadventure.

It is kinda funny when I think to myself "next they're gonna try this angle..." and then they do exactly that.

The fact that so many salesman are super sleazy today makes me actual consider being one in the future, just to actually help people and do so ethically. I guess it all stems from who/what dealer you work for and what their integrity is like though.

Had a similar thing happen when we got the wife's GX. Except it was at a dealer across the street from CBT. We told them 10min to go across the street and get it. At 10.01 we walked. They called for weeks wanting to know when we'd be back. So we played their game. Sure set it up for Friday afternoon.... crickets... They still called. Stupid people are fun sometimes

Did they buy your new GTI? Is that what you did to get the Tundy?

Complete opposite with the the wifes car. The sales mgr called and said they had the car she wanted and he already ran most of the numbers. We walked in test drove and signed. Less than an hour total.

The mgr is her best friends husband, so he knew what she wanted and how much we owed on the trade in. Unfortunately after we were done he went in and put in his 2 week notice and moved to Idaho.

One of my golf buddies is one of the top Ford sales people in Mass by being ethical. He pretty much works off repeat clients and referrals only. He laughs everytime a Ford dealer here tries to get him to move. Says its so different(shady) out here compared to his gig back home, and he'd make 1/2 of what he makes out there.
