I camped on the cliffs above Roosevelt Lake last weekend. Drove 288 up through Young and some other backroads into Payson. Everything is open, even the gates that are normally closed for the winter. It was a little muddy and snowy on some of the higher trails but a stock 4x4 vehicle could make it no problem. There were campsites galore. Nothing was more scenic than Roosevelt Overlook Campground and it was empty(on a holiday weekend none the less) other than the helicopter tour that buzzed us and then parked about 1/4 mile away for an hour and then left.

When would you recommend replacing ATF and gear oil? Trying to figure out Toyota recommendations vs real world for AZ.

Finally.. truck is done. Firestone did the alignment yesterday.. came out great. Between rebuilt shocks, changing up the shim stack, new uppers, lowers, tierods, and CVs, it drives like never before. LMAO. It's like brand new.

@Rextinkleton93 you the man. for anyone needing to rebuild or wanting to do custom valving or play with shim stacks, hit him up. His work is solid.

Damn that's actually a super scenic and serene camp spot you have there! I might have to check that one out, but wondering since u mentioned trails are open if the ones that normally close are even closed right now?

How was the wood picking at that site for fires? I had a spot once up by payson picked dry for wood and legit had to go to the Walmart at 6 pm on our first night to go buy some in town.

I'm super happy to hear it's dead up there as of when u went, hoping for the same when we go. Can't stand camp sites flooded with razrs and people bugging cause when I like to camp its to get away from people like that :rofl: I will be checking into where u mentioned tho, hoping for some more suggestions to comb through! Thanks again man!

You can always check the forest service website for closures.

    https://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/coconino/alerts-notices/?cid=stelprdb5441646&width=full

Just click on a region of the map and it should take you to road status for that area.

As of right now, most of the stuff up here and around flagstaff are still closed.

Definitely bring your own fire for that spot. As for trails, its really more "dirt roads" around there. We just pulled up the GPS and zoomed in really close to find cool stuff. We scoped a fire lookout tower at like 7500 feet which was pretty rad. The whole stretch from the turnoff of 188/288 going north through the mountains all the way to Young has trails and campsites every couple miles. The entire area in the red box is chock full of Forest Service roads, many of which were open. Just go adventure.

Thank you so much for all the info! Looks like I likely will be heading this way with the GF seeing most of forest roads are closed currently. We usually do rim road but have done some by stoneman lake and places right off the I17. I'll have to take the trade off of bringing my own wood, but that's worth it if the spots, and scenery is good as well as no nearby campers. Appreciate it!

That's a solid endorsement. I think it was a ride in your truck that made me decide on Kings it seems like so many years back.

@Rextinkleton93 I'll hit you up when I'm ready. Going to make a few changes to the truck of both weight and suspension geometry, then I'll be ready for a valve change.

Small world, I mentioned on here last week wanting too camp there! Prob gonna do it this weekend, but the rain worries me.

Did end going hiking out there last weekend. The Jug trail. I believe it was salome creek, and it was beautiful! Water was running fast, smooth rocks etc.

I think I remember that. Lol. The fact that you can rebuild them for a 1/4 of the original cost, is worth it alone. They are brand new now.

He'll take care of you for sure!

Been sitting at Camelback for 4 hours now. For a 35k service and an alignment. Somehow they fucked my emergency braking sensor and cant fix it. Already tried to send me home once and it came back on. I had no issue with it before this morning.

Dude that sucks but you were smart to wait it out or you will never get it fixed. i'm starting to do as much work on my truck as possible it's just not worth the hassel of the dealers doing sloppy work sadly. Good luck - at least the waiting room there is nice unlike Right Toyota

I just finally got out of there. They fessed up and said the first time around they did a "quick calibration" of the sensors and the service writer mentioned something about keys being used. Sounded weird to me. Ultimately they had to do a full calibration which I think is hilarious because they made me sign the "we wont calibrate your sensors" paper a few months ago. I did notice they have a new "lift your truck" area in the showroom with a Taco on rocks, stage lighting, accessories in fancy glass cases etc. and numerous lifted trucks all parked inside. Maybe Camelback is loosening up a little.

Has anyone heard of/had a "homeowners insurance inspection?" I got a call from a person saying they need to inspect my house inside and out. I told them to pound sand and called my insurance company who said yes, they set it up and I need it done to remain insurable. I only bought this house 18 months ago. Nobody I know has ever had this happen or even heard of it, including my realtor. It is exceptionally odd, even after talking to the insurance company.

Yes, this occurs with each of the houses I purchase, though usually long before the 18 month mark (one has happened in less than 2 weeks). The inspection is incredibly lax in my experience. Just a guy/gal walking around. One told me to remove some branches that were hanging over the roof line of the house.

The timing is the weird thing. At the time of purchase, or near, I totally understand. 18 months after buying the house is weeeiiiirrrdddd. I talked to another person at the insurance company and it does sound legit, still very odd to me though.

I had liberty mutual for 4 years, and someone threw progressive now for about 2, and have never had an inspection.
