    FYI...

The throttle response can be set to one of four levels...sounds like you might have the most aggressive one programmed. I have the same and love it, but agree that you had to relearn how to drive it, especially offroad. Using cruise control defaults back to the stock tune mapping...no way around it.

I did not realize that about the throttle response levels, there was no mention of it when I got the tune. I am used to it now and do like it. Thats also interesting about the cruise control default, did not know this either. Seems odd that cruise would have anything to do with the tune.

So do I except my biggest pet peeve about it isnt actually the behavior of the cruise but how horrible the fuel mileage is when using it.

I personally cannot stand the adaptive. Too many people that want to change lanes when going North anywhere, and the truck inevitably slams on the breaks to compensate.

I tend to use the constant speed or "traditional" cruise control. Get better MPG since it just maintains, I can push momentum before an incline, and the nonsensical constant adjustments stop, barring the occasional rev up to catch up to speed.

I agree, adaptive cruise on my VW works way better and seems to get the same mileage as normal driving.

Figured I'd kind of poll the whole group here. Very obviously not from here.

Thinking about doing tint all the way around on the truck, including a light ceramic on the windshield for temp help.

Everything leads me to believe I should be find here in the desert, and my biggest concern is going to be having to drive my wife's truck any time we take a trip to California.

Can anyone confirm or deny if I'm likely to be ticketed/pulled over for it? Don't exactly WANT probably cause on my windshield if it's really going to be an issue, but I also am past my young asshole driving days where it gives someone an excuse to light me up, oh and it's hot here. :anonymous:

I would love to tint my windshield but refuse to since in Arizona I have to replace it 3-4 times a year.

I did get pulled over for tint many years ago when I was stationed at NAS North Island (dude didn't like military), but never in any of my current vehicles with 15% all around.

I've had this thought. But I've also replaced 3 so far since living in AZ, not including my wife's truck. I'm clear for at least a year, right?

Thanks for the feedback, gang. Most that I've spoken with, even my in laws in PD drive around with tinted windshields and have for years.

    Fuel economy...

And using adaptive on the 17 is just an exercise in futility

I just did 15% ceramic all around and 70% ceramic windshield, obviously it was getting cooler 2-3 weeks ago when it was done so no extreme heat reviews but for the truck being outside 24/7 I figured anything would help.

with the tint/laws side I think the same thing going out of state is where people might bother you most, the side windows I’ve done 15% on multiple vehicles for 15+ years of living here with no issues. The window, this is my first time figured I’d see how much it helps if it’s worth the headache of a fix it ticket, or worth replacing if the window cracks.

I was never one to use cruise control much anyways but yeah, using it anywhere around town is generally pointless. I think the last time I turned it on for any distance was when I followed you and Caylen out of town.

@Rudimentality one thing the tint place said though as I was asking about if people tint the moonroof with ceramic to block the heat from there or not, he said you could do ceramic, but would suggest not doing a dark tint do like a 70 or up, as when you are getting pulled over or worried about maybe an area or state about your tint, you can open your moonroof cover thing and allow some light in, and that will make your windows look less dark.

Currently have Ceramic 5% on the sides and rear with 70% on the windshield for the past year, no issues.

Prior to that I had 1% on the sides and rear and had no issues for about 6 years. Only got pulled over once 10 miles outside of Nevada by DPS. I was about 10mph over and since I had no prior moving violations I ended up just getting a tint ticket for about $150.

Technically you're vehicle should pass their standards but I don't think they're going to enforce a non-moving violation unless you're already doing something in the wrong.

I Run 50% ceramic on windshield. Tint BEFORE install but leave enough edge to get a proper seal from the black adhesive to the glass and truck.

been pulled over in CA and cop could NOT get his fingernail to “feel” the edge because the tint goes past the A-pillar trim.

Cop threatened to tow me if he could feel film. :D He was in a mood.

Just know if a cop pulls the “it’s a safety violation” you are walking home at best.

It’s difficult to find a glass installer and tinter to work together. Also if you get a “chip” and you try to repair……the heat used to accelerate the repair WILL blister your tint and good luck removing tint from a windshield.

it’s a huge pain in the ass but when the stars align it’s all worth it.
