but but they both worked for Earthroamer,,,, this roof top tent should be nothing less than spectacular at grabbing attention while not really doing anything.

I remember paying $36,000 for mine in 2018 and thinking that was asinine but justified because of Tacoma resale value. 50k is truly insane for a truck with leaf springs and drum brakes.

Awesome, that little truck is way too cool to mess with

I'm casually looking for a good shape 1980 4x4 to get, it was my first truck and the beginning of a nearly 40 yr Toyota relationship.

    Partial owner too. So...

I have worked for Southwest Airlines and I have my pilots license. But Im not flying a 737. Ive also been camping since I was a kid, so I have more experience than they do.

Theres a big gap in their story. Two years and only a few pictures of them out and about. Not even good pictures of the unit.

Typically Im very skeptical of new products coming to market in the overland scene. I genuinely believe this one is different. If they had come to market with a bunch of vaporware in 3 months it would be a different story. They've spent 2 years developing it and its only just coming to market. They are doing it the way business was done before everyone on earth/the internet found out ahead of time. Earthroamer knows how to put together incredible stuff. I declined a job offer from Earthroamer back in the day because they wanted to pay me pennies but during the interview process I got an extremely up close look at their entire business and it was incredible to see. Their quality is top notch, they run a tight ship and Tyler was the one that lead them into the phase they're currently in which included ceasing production of the XV-JP, the creation of the XV-HD and the switch from LT bodies to LTi bodies, the same composite this RTT is made from, which involved starting an entirely new production facility and production line so it could all be made in house.

    edit: proof :p

I’d really like to see this thing in person once you get it installed. What options did you go with? I’m trying to make one of these happen in 2022.

That time of year again up in flagstaff. For anyone trying to come up and go snow wheeling, check road status here.

    https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/coconino/alerts-notices/?cid=stelprdb5339811

Basically everything is closed for the winter and won’t reopen until April. That said, the cinders do remain open year round.

And for anyone coming up and planning on getting stuck, my new job doesn’t get out until 5pm on week days. So don’t get stuck until later in the day or preferably weekends lol. Happy New Years everyone

Agreed.. but I know I'm gonna tear into it sometime down the road. I have some plans for it for sure. But it's also just too Rad in it's original Patina glory to cut up just yet. Kinda letting it die in peace before I have at it. Lol

I'm always looking around for old Toyotas as well.. I'll keep an eye open!

For sure. Hoping it goes quickly and smoothly. I went all out on it.. figured why not. Dual swings and uprights. Spare tire mount. Single Jerry can mount. 5lb Propane tank plus mount. 2 fold down tables. Was pricey.. and it's gonna be heavy. I'm estimating around an additional 400lbs all said and done to the rear of the truck.

Haha.. not yet. Also, 3uz. Keeping it Toyota.

Yeah, I’m curious to hear how the frame flex is after all the weight is back there. I figure if I’m going to spend all that money, I’m with you on getting all the options. I will probably bolt as much to it as I can to save room in my bed. Otherwise, I would just do something basic like a Warfab high clearance. I’m still waiting on my BAMF Hybrid Front though so that project needs to get finished before I even consider the rest of the armor.

I heard that.. I'm hoping I don't regret all the weight. Time will tell. worst case I pull it and go something similar to warfab or custom. Lightweight tube just to carry the tire really. But like you.. I want all this shit out of the bed and gives more options. The 2 tables will be nice. Won't have to carry my camp table now. Frees up more space and is less to pack up when wanting to head out.

Got up early to beat the crowds and hit 10" of new snow at Snowbowl. Got there and it was 10 degrees with 45mph sustained winds. No lifts were open. Decided to leave at 930. Lifts didnt open until 1030. Ill go back when its not below 0 wind chill and gnarly wind. The nice part about spending the coin on a pass.

On a related note, I think this was the tipping point for us with the Go Fast Camper. We agreed that we'd like to be able to relax somewhere warm, not inside the lodge with over priced everything and people packed in like sardines. Also we could bring the pup with us and leave her in the camper with the heat on instead of leaving her at home by herself all day. It might be time to start looking at a Four Wheel Camper to replace the GFC.

I've seen a lot of people going Diesel Heaters.. if that means anything to you. I'm not about them personally.. just seems like a lot of work. But another option.

The Tundra Regular Cab will be the only RC I ever get. The amount of space behind the back seat is nuts. You could lay down back there.
