Why not just put a 5.3 in it and have all the tuner options and EFI

 

Those things are sweet but man are they hard to come by these days. The MUCV axles are the only direct swap 14/60 for the K5 but they basically dont exist and when they do, people want $4000 just for the Dana 60.

Long answer, I had a full 5.3 swap ready to go into the truck when I sold it two years ago. Also sold the whole lot of 5.3 swap parts so Im starting from scratch again. The L18/21/29 are modern big blocks with fuel injection and plenty of aftermarket support. They came in complete packages(like 3/4 ton burbans/vans) with a modern electronically controlled trans as well and are just as easy to swap in as an LS based motor. Why start with 300lb/ft of torque when you can start with 400?

Our old Tahoe collapsed the #6 lifter, took out the cam lobe, and spun the cam bearings. It also dumped so much raw fuel into the exhaust it smoked the cats, too. Put a new motor in it, and now the oldest daughter has it...and her kids will have it, and their kids, etc. Most expensive 2008 Tahoe on the road!

 

Yup. If you have any new style LS engine with it. Best disable it. Very common to do that.
I would’ve ended up with a bunch of parts from TSP in there. Make it one of the fastest Tahoe family haulers.

 

Just get abs Aluminum LSx block from GMPP and bore n stroke it to a 7.4L or
Bigger. Drop the weight from a cast LS 8.1L

 

Yep...2005 and newer...already disabled on both the 2008 and the new Tahoe.

 

I'm gonna take a wild guess that they'd look at the skid plate scrapes and dirt and go "LOOOOOL NOT COVERED" ...

 

If Im gonna do that Id rather just pull out all the stops and go ZZ632. 1000hp naturally aspirated on 93 octane. Its only $29,999.99 from Jegs.
