I know. The front end needs reinforcements and upgrades. It's only a matter of time.

They are cheap and worth every penny. Nothing better until you make the jump to air bumps.

I’m convinced air bumps are an internet flex and absolute numnecesary high maintenance overkill for most users. They are slick I’m sure but they are silly for most “bolt on coilover” suspension lift guys

You’d even notice a drastic difference going over speed bumps and big dips in the road with them. They are progressive and smooth out bump travel

Well after 7 weeks it's finally rolling out of my garage and hopefully to the alignment shop this week. The project kinda spiraled the more I tore things apart and realized how janky everything was after being neglected during a few years of trail abuse. Had a lot of back and forth getting the right parts and tools and only had time to work on it on weekends and the occasional morning before work. Final list of stuff that got done:

    • Shocks revalved, recharged, bearings and spacers changed out (they were at 0psi and probably had been for a little while :anonymous: need to tackle the rears soon because they're flat too)
    • Coil springs swapped from 600# to 650#
    • Driver's CV swapped out, I popped the boot trying to unjam it from the hub and the splines looked a little rough afterwards.
    • Spindles swapped for Camburgs, had to get some fresh seals and a new tapered adapter from Total Chaos since the bent side was totally seized (this was sort of a silly purchase vs buying a new set of spindles and gusseting them but I've wanted these forever)
    • Also changed the brake lines since Camburg threw some in and it was easier than separating the old ones from the weird little brackets, especially since I had already taken the spindles out
    • New bushings for the UCAs and LCAs
    • New hub assemblies for both sides
    • New outer tie rods
    • New front diff seals (these were a huge pain in the ass to get the correct parts from the dealer)
    • Total Chaos UCA/Coil Bucket gussets
    • Marlin Cam tab/LCA mount gussets
    • Replaced a bunch of random hardware that was banged up

How it sat for what felt like a year

    IMG_1759.jpg

Fresh and clean. My welding isn't the best but I think it'll get the job done, this was definitely the hardest welding project I've tackled with all the weird angles and tight spaces. Might be time to add that secondary shock hoop...

@snowsk8air2 is probably the only guy on this page who actually would benefit from some air bumps I literally can’t believe he doesn’t have them. That being said - if you think you need them you probably don’t buy it’s a free world and I hope you buy them if you want them. I’ll put superbumps on every Toyota truck I ever own
