Yeah all melted here too. Some spots around on the sides of the road but nothing crazy. Lots of black ice this morning tho.

Does anyone have a WeeBoost? Just got one as a gift and I don't want it plugged into the cigarette lighter but cant find much info on if I could hardwire it into something...

Let me start by saying I do not have one. But you should be able to wire it into the fuse box under the steering wheel. Just got to find what the amp needed is. And do one of those stackable fuse circuits to one of the fuses that comes on with ignition.

I have one, and went through the same process...ultimately decided on the 12V port in the center console and use the built-in switch, since I only have it on when the antenna is unfolded and somewhere it's needed

I have a second gen and out out of 12v ports. I have my gmrs radio and dash cam in my two 12Vs so i'm torn on what to do and I figured this would be my next best thing..... Maybe it would be better to hard wire the radio in instead of the weeboost?

That's what I would do, if it were me...

IIRC, the Weboost plug steps down the voltage from 12 to 5, so it's not as simple as cutting the plug off and hardwiring...electronics don't really work well when you let the smoke out.

That's the secret. They run on magic smoke. If you let the smoke out, they fail to work any longer.

Electrical is one of those things that can go wrong quickly if not done correctly...

I'm assuming you have the Reach OTR or Overland, and recommend going this route if you're going to hardwire it: https://www.weboost.com/products/hardwire-power-supply-950079

I was thinking of doing an add a fuse for the GMRS radio instead as it seems safer from what you're saying, just didn't know what the Midland radio would need for the fuse. A video I watched swapped the 15 fuse with a double add a fuse with a 15 and a 10

Okay I cracked into it tonight and I’ve run into a dead end. I didn’t know but I have already tapped into 6 with an add a circuit fuse which I believe is the cigarette lighter fuse. I don’t think the cable is long enough to run into the engine bay and I don’t see any sold online from the manufacturer. Anyone have any ideas on where to wire my mxt115 radio to?

You can just extend the Midland power wire with the same gauge, and move the fuse close to the battery...

Happy to help wire it up if you need it, just let me know!

I hit some black ice on the way to Reno from from Gants Pass a few days ago while pulling the trailer. Butt puckered for sure but I saved it. Switch to 4HI for the rest of that highway.
I read I-17 and 89A are closed right now.
