Im actually thinking about doing a new USA made superlight when they come out and using a mid height bed rack so the tent is in line with the roof of the truck. This probably goes without saying but, parking in the garage when it snowed 3 feet this past week is something I never want to give up.

X1 is like 20+ inches longer than a GFC.. and I can fit in the garage with my camper and 35s. the added length from the rear bumper is what's keeping me from fitting now.

Im just shy of 6'8". The wedge is what kills it for me. Even with the pass-through panels in place, it's still tight.

Be able to just roll up to his house in the mini toss in your sleeping bag and a chair and have him take you out. Its time.

this was my setup for years. custom made bedrack to put the RTT at the same height as my Prinsu roof rack. I knew I could clear everything like that. Parked in the garage the whole time.

Stuff that costs more than my wife thinks.
I suppose that I'll be the first to acknowledge that price is what REALLY keeps me away from GFC - because MAN those things are sweet.

But I do think I'd be sacrificing quite a bit of space with a wedge of any sort, especially since the wife and mutt are usually taking space, as well.

I like my OVS Nomadic in terms of space - finally got the hingeplates in to fix it, too. So, I think I'll ultimately just end up getting a used boat trailer and rigging it to carry a couple camping gear tubs, a cooler, and the tent on top - tired of shaking parts loose with it being on the daily.

I'm 6'2" and I took a spin in @XPOTRPR SuperPacific. Wedge campers just ain't for me even laying with my head at the very end when my feet were in the relaxed position my toes were almost touching. You scoot or toss and turn around at all and move down and my feet would be hitting and I don't like that feeling of confined space while sleeping.

Unfortunately the Flagstaff house only has a 7' garage door. Architecturally it would take a ton of work to even go up to an 8'. I think its worth it but the wife doesnt agree. When we get back from our trip though we will be looking for a space in the valley that will fit all the rigs: Taco, Blazer, RV and anything else that may creep in. RV will need a 12' door when its done :D

I'll take you up on that offer. They do offer so much convenience over the RTT for sure.

I am only 6'3" and I fit in my AluCab easily, using only the 'bed' portion of the upper area. I don't use the smaller, what I call 'desk' portion of the upper area (it's own separate platform), and that portion is 18" wide.

But, wedges aren't for everyone for sure. You're always welcome to give mine a shot if you are ever near the 101/17.

I'm in the same boat. We had someone come out to raise the door to 8ft and it was so expensive it wasn't worth it. Cheaper to build a garage in my backyard.
