I just saw you have a T4R. I have those Air Lift 1000s on my 06 T4R and love them. Install was WAY easier than the Ride Rites on the Taco. I used a utility knife to cut the bump stops out (a knife cut them like butter...started with a sawzall and it just shook back and forth). Left the bags in the sun to get pliable, folded them, stuffed them inside the coil, massaged into place, ran the lines, and done.

They did stiffen up the ride a little with the "Min 5 psi", but I run them at 3 psi and they ride perfect.

Alright... Onx vs Gaia. I'm going to be testing both this trip as I am forced to jump ship from Garmin after they discontinued their Birdseye satellite imagery subscription. I went to do my usual trip prep on my GPS and download imagery for out of state areas we visit (I have an Az hunt map, so I ALWAYS have imagery for Az, no downloads needed) and its no longer available. I use imagery more than anything else and have been for years, for many reasons and always liked the fact I could have it on a GPS that didn't require service. It just worked.

I am now forced to switch to either of the 2 above if I want imagery, which both will now require downloading it prior to trips for "Offline" use.. including Az. This is a headache and super lame IMO.. I don't want to be tethered to Cell service or run a Booster, etc. That's why I have stuck with Garmin + Imagery for so long.

I'm wondering if any of you utilize either of those GPS Apps with imagery and or rely on it as much as I do.. and if so, how does it work for you, tips, etc. I currently have the free 7 day trial of Gaia Premium, but only the free version of Onx right now. I want to determine which will suite me better, specifically the imagery portion, before I commit to purchasing either App. I just want the newest, clearest imagery, be able to zoom in with a decent resolution still, and be able to download sections for the offline use (which will be all the time really) with ease and or best results. Other questions like, can I download all of Az and have that set on all the time so that it replicates having Imagery hardloaded and not dependent on service. I dont want to have to switch back and forth between online/offline, different downloaded sections, etc. Out of state areas.. thats fine if I need to download and or switch to that offline map, as that's what I was doing previously on the Garmin anyways, but, I still always had Az imagery regardless and then the other areas were loaded on to the Garmin for seamless transitions/no toggling of maps, etc.

TLDR; Best App (Gaia vs Onx) for utilizing Satellite/Aerial Imagery (offline).

Stuff that costs more than my wife thinks.
My comparison is a bit limited, and a bit more geared toward what others experienced with OnX while I was using Gaia premium. But I can say with confidence that I love Gaia for my needs - it sounds like you're looking for a bit more than I personally need, as I tend to just download way points and set a path, or just create a general path that I intend to follow and just stay pretty par for the course as I drive along.

Having said that, it's always been reliable for me, and where my mapping stayed pretty true to where we were driving, and my buddy's have mentioned that their OnX went of course where my Gaia did not, but then you consider the apple vs. android, their quality of phone, etc. A lot of variables that really may not be the app's fault. I have overall heard great things about OnX and the quality of the app, as well.

Not sure if this is a selling point, but from my limited knowledge, I believe OnX may be a little better for OUTSIDE the US as it seems to be the number one in Canada, but the two are going to pretty freaking spot on comparable in the states.

Appreciate the input. I did spend a few hours last night playing with both. Map layers in Gaia are nice, but its kind of clunky, and still not ideal. (One layer might be outdated imagery, but has all info. Another layer might be newer imagery, but not as clear or able to zoom in with high resolution, etc). Onx seems to have decent imagery, is user friendly, but outdated as well. I need to play with the downloading of imagery on both and compare that.. the problem is.. to get the offline features of Onx.. I have to pay. I would like more info and see if it fills my needs before committing. At least Gaia I can try it for 7 days.

I rarely set points.. I use it more for a visual for seeing if a 2-track trail is a dead end or takes me into that small tucked away camp spot or not. Or using it to see landmarks and other things to help navigate.

I too use Gaia, and I trust it to keep me properly oriented and to relay my position to me accurately when I really need it to. I'm talking no cell service, deep in a canyon that very few people venture into due to the difficulty surrounding it, with one very specific 'safe' exit that you have to find, things like that.

I don't have detailed experience with any of the other apps though. I feel like I don't need it, based on Gaia's track record in my own experience.

Even if Gaia cost 4x as much per year I'd still buy it. It is that vital to what I do, and it is constantly giving me crucial info in challenging situations.

I can't speak to the image quality. I always download areas at maximum resolution, and even if I zoom in I don't have an issue. I don't use a satellite view, just contour maps basically.
