Stuff that costs more than my wife thinks.
To be fair, young guns tend to buy Toyotas so they DON'T have to work on 'em. :p

And while everybody in 1st gen TW knows about the ball joint issues, regular people that just daily a Tacoma really don't know until it happens to them. And unless you take it to the dealer, the lube tech doing your oil change probably isn't going to tell you that you need to replace the LBJs.

There are a few companies out there making different options to go to uni ball set ups and just getting rid of the ball joints altogether.

The 4Runner needs steering rack bushings. I don't have the time to do this. Looks like you have to remove the rack to do it. 2007 V8.

Looking for someone or a shop to do this work. Any suggestions? I'd like to upgrade to polyurethane.

Dont really need to remove the rack. Just remove the brackets and swap out the bushings if I recall correctly. You basically get it to the point you could take it out but no need to. I can handle it for you.

On the V6 that's the way. IDK if you can do that with the V8. Only video I can find he pulls the rack.

Yeah. Was talking to buttercup about it. Still looking but if I have to pull the rack I'd just rather pay someone.

Yeah at that rate I would too. It was straight forward enough for me to pull and replace mine. It was not overly difficult but just a pain with the way you need to twist your wrists to get to bolts and turn the wheel to get to others and use every extension with swivels on a wrench. blah bla blah.

Not how that works.. lol The bushings have to be burned/pressed out and you have to yank the rack in order to do that. I did it to mine years ago and swapped to Poly bushings and then @Milota95 and I did it to another 2nd gen not too long ago. If just swapping the rack, its not terrible but still a PITA to wiggle it out if you're not dropping the diff. @Aw9d we could do it like I said.. especially if you want to swap to Poly. If you dont want to mess with it.. just take it to Desert Toy Shop and have them swap a whole new rack in (you'll still have rubber bushings tho).

you might be thinking of getting the bolts out themselves.. rotate and do a weird twist thing and thats how you get them pulled out. then fight the rack out. still better than dropping the diff imo.
