I'm no hippie (far from it) but I have damn near melt downs over the SxS crowd and their lack of etiquette and decorum. Truthfully it's probably only 10% to 20% of the group but they seem to have a higher in quantity and higher in obnoxiousness number of people.

Still - I'd never spike or cable a trail. That's beyond obnoxious and well into the realm of pure evil. But I can see how easily words trigger them and wouldn't be shocked if they counted three MAGA stickers on the trail and decided to leave landmines out there.

SxS are going to be the reason every good trail gets shut down and it's not even close. It may just be even 5-10% but that's all they'll look at.

 

Money cant buy intelligence. Just makes it so easy for them to get out into the trails they have no idea how to care for or what others are doing to protect the areas they are destroying. I know I am preaching to the choir here.

I spent some time out of the country, which seemed to have lined up with the rise of SxSs

Before I left circa 2012, there was still pretty widespread use of the outdoor code; ie folks stopping to help others out, downhill yielding to uphill, more built up yielding to stockers, ect.

But these days its just "screw you I am here to party"

A couple years back when I still had my jeep, a guy tried to fist fight me on broken arrow,
all because I had the nerve to say something along the lines of "Hey man it looks like you are having trouble getting your SxS started, why dont we get it to the side and let all these people pass and I would be happy to help you out."

I will get off my soap box, but if these idiots in SxSs and other 4x4s dont stop going full retard we are going to lose trails
It seems a lot of the community is already gone.

And also they dont appreciate things cause they dont have the time in buying and building things.

 

And when they have a cage around them and a trailer waiting for them by the highway they do not think there are any consequences (or DUI laws)

 

I agree with you on never sabotaging a trail. Similar to like while I enjoy hunting the thought of using bear traps seems evil.

But after having to jump off a hiking trail with my 2 year old son to dodge a SxS I could see how someone might spike a trail that they thought was hiking only.

Spikes / cables scare the shit out of me on my dirt bike, yet another reason I hate SxSs and their impact on the community at large.

I live right by the Cinder hills OHV and just about every holiday weekend someone wins a helicopter ride.

Doesnt stop them from drunk driving to the chevron to get more beer

 

Dont get me wrong I enjoy my dirt road sodas. But I also cant speed anymore. And if I break something I got to fix it and drive it home.

If you are still driving reasonably and not endangering anyone then I am not the guy to try to count if you have had 2 or 4 beers.
