Anyone looking at the gap should be mindful that it changes a lot every year with the rains. For the most part, there are several by passes. However, there's easy to extreme lines depending on the year and rains. First time I ran it was on 275s and a spacer lift with no company..... would not suggest that. Every time after was on decent suspension with 33s. Body damage can definitely happen. With a group and 33s and skids and sliders at least.... it is one of my favorite trails in southern az. End it with a run up the backside of Mt. Lemon from oracle and you got a full day if not more, of wheeling. Hit the cookie cabin in summerhaven for a reward when your done. A few yrs back a lot of it was dozed and pretty doable with most capable stockers, anymore..... bring a friend.

Just went outside at my house just 1/4 mile from South Mountain Park. Heard some rusting in the bushes and turns out was a coyote. Then two more came from behind where I was in the "front gravel area". They all watched me long enough to decide I was not going to bother them than casually walked away.

    Gotta love AZ!

We've been hearing good things about traveling to Rocky point and staying at one of the resorts with the kids...anyone have some tips for staying at las Palmas resort? The price seems right, and we're itching to get away as a family. Any input you guys have is much appreciated!

We used to go to Rocky Point a few times a year but now only go once a year. We're trying to explore other places.
Honestly any of the resorts on Sandy beach are pretty good. Our favs are Las Palomas, Las Palmas etc.
If you don't want to venture into town you don't have to. The resorts offer enough restaurants to choose from, as well as some near the resorts.
If you do go into town the main strip is just touristy stuff, pharmacies, etc. But if you are wanting to buy fresh seafood and cook it at the hotel then the strip in town is a good place to go. There are a lot of restaurants, bars, shops etc.

We just went to RP about a month ago or so. The line to get INTO Mexico from PHX at Lukeville took over an hour. They are checking more and more vehicles on the way in. Nothing extreme, just time consuming.

On your way back I would advise crossing back into the US on a day other than Sunday. That's when the entire world (us included) typically come back and the backup at the border can be long. Although we did see some improvements to lane markings, road conditions, etc. at the border crossing on our latest trip.

Wifey loves to buy tortillas from the ppl selling them while we wait in line to cross into the US, I love buy the tamales from them too.

Hope you guys enjoy the trip, and have passports :)

Played Wile E. Coyote to a roadrunner. Walked up a drainage ditch to get into my park for a hike. The road runner was in the ditch as well and moved away from me as I approached the park until I walked past it. BTW: they do NOT sound like "beep beep".

Hopefully you got two additional leafs, not just one?
