Live and learn ha. My RV weighs over 11,000lbs and I run E rated tires. Its not a dually either, only 4 tires. Ive driven it over 25,000 miles and they still look nearly new. Tread is over 50% still. Toyotas dont need Es.

I'm really looking forward to playing with the bead grips that I just got. I think between those and c rated tires I might be in more danger of getting a pinch flat than blowing a bead.

E load is definitely unnecessary for Tacomas but I’ve always running skinny tires and they have historically only been available in E load. My Kendas were D load which was nice but the tire was way too loud after some milage. There is always a compromise, you just have to know what you plan to use them for and set your expectations within reason. If there was a quality 35-37x10R17 AT in C load on the market, I’d be all over it.

Any body ever mixed synthetic gear oils of the same weight from two different manufactures?

Watched this recently and figured I'd share it here given the recent topic.

He details the differences between skinny and wide 35" tires and also touches on the difference between different tire brands. Was pretty informative.

I ran 37x12.50 BFG AT K03, C load, on 17x8s and they were quite narrow since they are an OE tire from the Raptor. Once you get up to 37s a "12.50" starts looking pretty skinny, especially an OE tire. They are also lighter than the E load 35x12.50 K03s.

I watched that too, good video with lots of "proof is in the pudding" but the problem is he uses load range E tires. No surprise that a ~4300lb truck cant make them flex until they have almost no pressure. Ultimately his test is flawed because he uses the wrong load range tires for his vehicle.

The issue is that the skinny's are not available in any range but E. Thats the case for most Skinny's. So its more appropriate to compare wide and skinny at the same load range. Although it wouldve been nice to see the wide's compared at different stiffnesses, at least.

I do wish more skinny tires offered at least C load.

Yeah I understand why he did it. I think we are lucky to get the tall skinny tires either way because they are cool. I think they only exist because of dually trucks which explains the E rating. I agree that it would have been nice if he compared the wide ones in a load C also. I think they would have flexed at least as good as the skinny E tires.
