Very glad you went with a 1.6. The 1.28gal/flush toilets fucking suck. They’re designed for piping with 1/8” per foot of pitch, which is relatively new. Older drainage is 1/4” per foot. The extra water helps flow things down river faster with the 1/4”, but when you don’t have that extra bit, it causes clog after clog.

That’s interesting, good to know. Yeah I agree, I’m not trying to save 5 gallons of water a day when we’re already averaging 250 gallons a day in our house. Not worth the pain. I’ll just take a slightly shorter shower to make up the difference if I really wanted.

Definitely not, especially when snaking plumbing is involved. I’ve done a lot of commercial and residential drain cleaning in my plumbing career. It ain’t fun, and it ain’t cheap!

1.6gpm, lol. You can always raise the float so the tank sends a little more water down river with each yule log/hickery farms sampler. :poking:

I'm not a plumber but maybe I should be. I've swapped out at least 9 toilets with Kohler Highline Classics. They run about $200ish and are 14 golf ball rated. Takes a lot of fiber to plug one up.

Did two in the current house.
    Three in the last house
    Two in Mom's condo.
Two in the previous last house.

Seems to be that the initial toilet design with the low water usage that came out in 1990 through 2000 weren't really designed for low flow. They just took a 7 gallon toilet and cut it down to 2.3 gallons. Now they are engineered to run low flow and can get by with 1.2ish if you get a good one.

And yeah - F-That Wax Seal.

Drain piping should be considered when you go to a 1.28gpf. Sure the toilet itself won’t clog, but usually the water runs away faster than the solids and you end up with a blockage

True - We had a "plumbers belly" in a line at one house. That's where the line from the toilet to the main sewage line by the street sags down a little below the main line and solids have to go a little bit up hill near the end of the trip before it becomes "the city's problem."

Ended up putting in a Pressure Assisted Toilet in that house.

They work off of capturing your water pressure. We lived right close to the water-tower and I raised our PSI to the max safest recommended amount. That thing flushed really well. Would suck your ass hairs off if you were sitting on it. But after we moved they started recalling them because they would go BOOM in the night. That was around 2003. I think they have the kinks worked out now.
