Thanks guys! I may go snag the 3ton steely tomorrow. I'm thinking the extra ~ $70 isn't worth the ~20lb savings unless someone can persuade me otherwise

 

Stupid question, why not just get some .250 all thread and make your own square clamps? Do they have to have the smooth section?

Edit - you'd probably want smaller than .250 inch all thread if the ID is 1", but still, heating it up and bending it would be the same process. A little flat stock for the other side and away you go.
