I was stationed at a NATO base overseas for awhile. Basically a pit stop in the middle of the ocean. We’d get quite a few Ukrainian antonovs that’d come in. The funny thing is that if the ramp was busy that share flight line space with other aircraft, so every now and then you’d see this behemoth parked next to a small piper or 172. Made fighter jets look like little ants out there.

 

Took kara out for breakfast at first watch. So good and she loves it here.

Alas the karate exam wore him out Saturday and he was watching The Fast and the Furious for the first when I got home from the Wrench event last night.

Came in from mowing the lawn and my 8yo is on the couch watching FF2.

He says: “Daddy I want a car with green lights under it!”

I tell him: “Well do good in school and get a job to pay for the car and I will help you build it!”

Him: “REALLY????”

Me: “Of course, however the car cannot be a poser, all show and no go, it has to be fast too!”


The boss started giving me the stink eye!

Then I show him my old car

 

Welp it's back to a busy and not as much fun day for me.
On the plus side, over my weekend we now have 4 Toyota models. Prius, Corolla, Rav4 and Forerunners.
Then seen a popped condom on a Navigator.

That’s a loaded question.

Yes and No.

Yes I do miss the exhilaration of driving something with awesome power to weight ratio of 600 wheel horsepower/ 2200 pounds.
Which was like driving with VTEC kicked in yo all the time and being able to stop on a dime.

No I do not miss sweating my balls off every time I got in it or the mind numbing noise it made with no insulation or carpet or HVAC, radio, back seats, door panels, etc. Or breaking expensive parts and waiting for the slow boat from Japan to clear customs.


I am an old man now, I want to go fast in quiet ball chillin comfort!

Which is insane, because I still want to build a kit cobra or 32 roadster, which would make it so I would only enjoy driving it 3 months a year.
