People who commit suicide don't want to die, they want the pain to end.

The thought of hurting others probably prevented them for committing suicide for a long time, finally it became to much. The act of ending one's life goes against the strongest primal instinct of survival. I used to think they were cowardly, until I found myself in that black pit of hell. I get it.

Closure is important, make sure you make the trip to tell him when you are ready.

Hey thanks Bryan! Yeah all is well here! Finally settled into an apartment, starting school again soon, had a drink on my lunch break, so all in all not bad.
Hope you and the fam are well!

Dude this hit me right in my soul. My buddy who killed himself was someone I really looked up to as having his shit together. A few years older than me, worked as a store manager but had a side hustle selling all sorts of cookware and whatnot, and did really well for himself.
It wasn't unusual for us to go out of contact for a while, we lived a few states away and some months we wouldn't hardly cross paths. Don't hear from him for a few weeks and then go to the forum we both posted on to see his obituary a pinned thread. :rain:

I know this feeling too. If I had Chen in front of me today I would sock him in the face so hard. And then cry a lot, and probably forgive him eventually but it'll be 10 years in October.

I mean I understand when people feel so trapped that there's no other way to solve it, but truly, it doesn't make pain go away, it just makes your buddies all shoulder it. It multiplies, it's insidious. And the worst part is societally we keep ourselves bottling it up not letting anyone know until its too late.

We need to start thinking of this shit like preventative maintenance. A mental oil change, not "well the motor hasn't seized yet, you're not some kind of weirdo are you??":help:

Post up and reach out, anyone, everyone.

Vent away brother! Anything helps, even venting to us.

I found my roommate. I don’t hate him anymore, but I am still pissed, 15 years later.

My brother and PTSD... he has had 4 attempts. They all failed, not do to a lack of trying, but by the grace of God. The last two, the doc was shocked he lived. It has fucked up his kids (although his x wife has done her fair share to fuck them up). Fuck the VA and the Air Force, neither has done anything to help him. Although he is not blame free.

I have lost a couple of Army buddies this way. Don’t feel bad, I attended one funeral for a suicide, never again.

on a brighter note, any cool ideas on something to stick in a backup sensor hole? Got some color matched caps for my bumper but they are the up-trim version.

Part of me is thinking BD Rock light, but that might look silly.

Other than a backup light I can't really think of anything else.

Well, I had to hug my motor in order to be able to look through the front of it and use the ratchet behind. Finally got the knock sensor out. If I knew how deep this damn rabbit hole was going to go I would have just pulled the motor day one. Oh well, I'm accomplishing a lot that is said to not be possible. Haha.

Something I watched recently that I thought was a very powerful story and relevant to today's posts. Having lost one family member and another that was unsuccessful but permanently damaged I feel all your pain.

It does!!! And I’ve been trying to be heart healthy to bring my cholesterol down so I’ve basically cut it out of my diet. But since family was in town last week and I have an open pack I can’t let it go to waste.
