Few options depending on the $ amount of the damage done.

1: if over your deductible file it through you insurance and let them subrogate for you. If his carrier doesn't respond then it goes to arbitration. If they don't show the default judgement goes your way and you get your deductible back. If they do respond and accept fault then you get your deductible back.

2: If damage not over your deductible but small enough for small claims court show up to his work and serve him.

3: try to find some evidence like surveillance footage etc. of the incident to submit to his insurance. They'll be forced to pay without needing a statement from him

More progress. Got the headliner in and cage welded up and in place. Planned on the headliner fitting a little better, but hey it’s my first time. Then went a little crazy on the trimming to get it to fit. Oops. At least the grey on grey isn’t too unsightly.

Also lowered the rear of the front seats to gain some much needed headroom not that there are tubes in the way.

What does the ID code on the registration tab say? It will say what plate number it belongs to

Also, I have gotten a new plate at renewal time, and got my tags for old plate, then new plate came like 3 weeks later.

PS- thanks for the pads and rotors. Save that 6er for when you’ll call MVD, you’ll need it.

Why didn’t you triangulate this instead of leaving the gap between tubes? Are you going to add any gusseting? 6F166C5E-A9E2-4A83-89A1-FA2E6540E91D.jpg

The plan was a closer fit, but I missed the notch a smidge and caused the tube to be a little short. First time building a cage and doing this much notching. Things aren’t perfect, but it’s mine and safer than nothing. Don’t plan on racing it and don’t plan on ever testing to see how good the cage is at saving me.

No excuses, it was a poor fit. Wasted a chunk of material getting the a-pillar pieces good that day that I let this get through.

I wouldn't have been able to do it so, bravo man. The next one you do will be much better because you will know some of the tricks.

Then why build one? If I’m putting the time, money and thought into adding a safety feature, I wouldn’t want to cut corners... unless my buddy’s name is Darwin.

Oh this has been a major learning curve. And as with other things on my truck, I let some quality slide for myself so long as I’m not concerned about safety or causing other issues down the line, but would never on someone else’s truck. The “trick” to caging these trucks is they are curvy bastards and it is a pain in the ass lol

End of a long day poor judgement. I probably should have redone it.
I don’t think anyone builds a cage with the intention of testing it. So like I said, I don’t plan on racing, but with my heavy foot and speeds the truck can handle, I want something there in the event of the unfortunate. I have no doubts the cage will do far more good than harm in the event it does ever get tested.

I’m not sure that it’s safer then not having one, the front tube to the rear tubes are not even in line with each other the energy transfer is not straight with the way it is it could bend / break

Well I hope you’re alone when you do roll, so that you don’t injure or kill someone else because after the end of a long day and poor judgement, you decided not to correct your corner cutting mistake in a safety feature.

They do it for safety and your giving yourself a false sense of security by thinking this is good enough. Don't take this the wrong way here Id just hate to see you roll this thing and the cage come apart or crush under impact.
