@Nitori Maybe build a small work bench in front of the truck with a large over head shelf. Similar to mine but smaller. Storage up top and below. Sink where the bike is if you gotta have one.

    Workin' on it....
Just finished torquing up the last couple of bolts, alignment seems dead nuts on with the marks on the cams I made prior to pulling everything apart. I’ll take it for a professional alignment on Monday.

First oil change is coming up. @Nitori what do I have to look forward to? I've heard the 2TR can make a mess.

Not sure if I should take it to the stealer or just do it myself but I'm wanting to go Full Synthetic and doing it myself seems like the much more logical choice in terms of expense.

Oil changes are trivial on the 2TR if you have the right approach. Don't let the stealership do it.

First off I highly recommend a fumoto valve- it's high up enough that you don't need to worry about it getting hit.

The pan itself is easy to drain, and then from there the oil filter itself just needs the right approach to getting it off with no mess.

What I do is I take a milk carton/OJ carton and cut the top off it (rinse it out in the sink) and then hold it up around where the filter is to catch the filter and the dribbles. After you break the filter free, it should spin easily for a few turns before the oil starts dribbling so you need not worry about loosening it and then immediately getting the carton up there.

So basically what I am doing is using one hand to hold the carton up there as close as I can to completely covering the filter, while I use the other hand to spin the filter. Once the flange starts to dribble your filter hand's fingers are going to get completely slick with oil so you'll have to really be persistent, but since at this point the filter is spinning freely it won't be too difficult. Once the filter is free it drops into the carton.

This is the sum of oil that usually spills:
    IMG_1578.jpg

Of course it has to go right onto a transmission line. But yeah, you can see it's just a few drops- you could clean up your hand and the block/flange with one blue shop towel square if you had to.

    IMG_1585.jpg
This is the sum total of my mess. Like I said, all it takes is the right approach and a carton.:thumbsup:

I can understand this sentiment. Maybe make a small display to hang on the wall of the garage with items from him, and get rid of the rest.

Did you all know that a 2016 Denali 2500 diesel has 2 batteries?

Also you need to remove front cross braces on each side to get the batteries out to replace them?

Thank goodness Costco was having a battery sale and replacements were only $284!

Most if not all diesels are dual battery but having to remove crossbraces to get the batteries out - that just seems like silly engineering. Costco can’t be beat - nice work!

    Back to not stock

Why not spend a little time refurbishing some of the cooler/more useful ones? Maybe donate the rest of them to a high school shop class or something like that.

Was helping my FIL move a sectional couch, loaded the longer one in his Denali and the shorter one in my taco.

He attempts to start his truck and it clicks. My monster jumper cables worked like a charm and got the sectional moved.

Parked his truck at my house so I could pull the batteries and run to Costco to get new ones. It was a PITA to get them both out.
Of course the new ones were 1/4” wider which made install a task. They engineered the space to fit within millimeters!

Good news is all his settings were saved so after start up he was able to motor home without issue.

There’s a lot of dikes that have chipped noses and are duller than butter knives, so I doubt they can be refurbished since I am pretty sure they are pressed together.

The compression tester has a crimped on hose so I don’t think that can be replaced...

I’m certainly not opposed to spending a little time refurbishing them but at least right now I need to focus on getting the garage into shape.

Maintenance day today for the 4Runner and the fiancé wanted to test fit my 35’s while I was rotating tires. Unfortunately the 16” rims don’t fit on the runner so we only got to set one kinda in place.

    B7FC7EA4-3FF2-40E9-AFCF-CE7B684AA59B.jpg

Looked good in there, but that’ll be her call if she wants to go that big on her next tires and have me chop things up for clearance
