Thanks, unfortunately, it was definitely the hardest thing to sell that Ive ever owned. I do still have the Tacoma, it will probably be around for a long time. Keep an eye out for something small and white with a removable top.

So does anyone know anything about the world of 20" Chrome Truck wheels?

Taco needs some new shoes. Kidding, my pops is looking for some new shoes for his Lincoln™ Brand F-150 and I wanna make sure he gets some quality product to replace the junk that came on it. I know nothing about big shiny bling.

Depending on the look he wants, I would be checking out Fuel wheels. I have ran Fuel wheels on two different trucks and have always liked their quality.

Good to know, I have seen Fuel a lot on the pavement pounders but I didn't know if they were just popular due to availability, or quality, or what. I have actually seen a few sets I think he'd like.

He wants "Black and Chrome" and I've had to let him know that, while possible, doing that combo isn't cheap. I've seen one set of Fuels for $1700 that has black and chrome and doesn't look like cheap shit.

That’s definitely the down side, the cost adds up quickly. I’ll admit that I’ve only had them on mall crawlers so I have no clue how they hold up off-road. But for daily driving I’ve never had an issue.

Yeah he doesn't do any off roading. His truck is a pavement queen.

So, now that I've had a career change, I've increasingly come to the realization that the Tacoma isn't a good fit for me anymore, for the time being.

It used to be that my commute was 5 miles, give or take, and most of my driving was urban/city with very short, tolerable stints on the highway. This allowed me to tolerate the truck's lack of power on my few interstate adventures. My previous job had my driving around heavy duty diesel work trucks, the Taco was faster than them, so I was happy. My new job has me driving around a RCSB Silverado with a 4.8 V8 which is a veritable muscle car compared to the Cummins and Powerstroke.

I'm considering trading it in/selling it and picking up something used to both lower or completely remove my payment, give me better fuel economy, and/or better highway performance. Having little to no payment, as well as no compulsion to keep modifying the vehicle (which I will have if I keep the Taco, the draw to modify is *strong*) will be a win/win for me. I need to focus on bigger priorities like house ownership and potentially business ownership in the possible future.

Also, I'd like to get a dedicated vehicle down the road that I can put 33"+ tires on and won't care about scratching it or whether it gets laid up in the garage/shop to fix/modify.

I guess I'm just blog posting, but this is a first to be in this predicament, and certainly not what I had planned to do when I got the Tacoma. I typically keep my vehicles for a few years and was planning on at least 10 years of ownership of the Taco, so to have these thoughts after a year and a half seems like a betrayal to my own self, but another 3.5 years of $430 a month isn't exciting, either. I currently owe $17k on the Tacoma and they're selling for $27-29k with my options. I could probably sell the shell separate as well and get another $1.5-2k (it was $3300ish new).

I'm in a pretty good situation where I'm in no rush to get rid of it, which probably means now is the best time to sell it.

What's it like selling a $28k~ truck private party? Harder or easier?

If I went 2nd Gen it'd be anything in Brilliant Red. Love that color.

Problem is Tacos are still high in value, and 2nd Gens are still uncomfortable to sit in for 50 miles a day.

Some seat warmers and adjust your seat accordingly and you’re set. Wife and I did a 10 day 2k mile road trip in mine last summer and it wasn’t half bad. And that’s with a full cage and s/c. Not necessarily dd specs but I honestly think the seats are comfy. 50 miles a day may not be the best mpg vehicle but no truck will be.

Sell 3rd gen, acquire 2nd gen that you can mod as you see fit, and use the leftover money towards a dd. Best thing I ever did was buy my race support Elantra. 35mpg and can fit a 40” tire in the back seat if needed.

Oh, yeah I wasnt looking at replacing the Tacoma with another truck to be honest. Was looking mostly at something I wouldnt want to modify and would drastically reduce my payment (sub $100) or remove it altogether. Another Tacoma wont really lower my payment.
